This was wrong on four counts. First, the replay rule for altercations says that you can only look at stuff that occurred immediately before the altercation. Draymond’s push was on the previous play.

Second, the rules on technicals say that a technical foul cannot be awarded for physical contact when the ball is live. The ball was clearly live when Draymond made the push.

Third the refs said that they reviewed and found the push was flagrant. But they didn’t call it. And even after review, they didn’t award the two free throws for it. Nor did they give the Warriors a team foul.

Fourth, if it was called as a flagrant, he shouldn’t have been ejected. Flagrant fouls and technical fouls are different. Two of either, and you are out.

This might be the worst call I’ve seen so far this year. I hope the League does something about it, but it won’t.
