Career averages - 27/11/3.5 with elite defense in only 31.8mpg. 61.1 TS%, 28 PER, 6.6 BPM

Since 2020 - 31/11/4/1/1.5 - elite defense, 33.4 MPG, 31.1 PER, 63.4 TS%, 8.8 BPM.

This makes all of his playoff performances even more damning. Dude drops two tiers in the playoffs - goes from all-time great regular season player to not even a superstar in the playoffs, but just a high level all star.

Also I have made a few threads before, but I really think we need to consider the start of the 2020-2021 season a new "era". It's hard to compare directly to other eras where the rules favored more defense and the playstyle of entire teams were different.

We basically have the 90's-2005 as an era, 2006-2016 an era (2017-2020 is sort of it's own thing due to Warriors/Covid)

And then we have 2020/2021 to now which is hugely inflated stats due to offensive friendly rules and historical spacing due to increased long distance shooting ability from all positions. As much as I love Jokic and have been hyping him as a top 10 all time candidate since 2021, the NBA over the last few years is just too easy.

Guys like Jokic, Giannis, Embiid basically grade out to MJ/Lebron level players in the regular season if we go by box-score/advanced stats and easily clear other all time greats at their regular season peaks.

Post like this tell me a lot of you don't watch Sixer playoffs
Let's recap:

Joel Embiid's Playoff Injury History: 2023 (Knee Sprain), 2022 (Orbital fracture, concussion, torn thumb ligament), 2021 (Torn meniscus), 2019 (Knee tendinitis), 2018 (Orbital fracture, concussion). Has missed 7 of 54 playoff games in his career.
Started his NBA career with a knee injury

So is most of that poor performance?

Ebiid is the most battered player probably in playoff history. Yall look at stats

It's not just that, it's his body language too and general leadership.

He pouts and folds up his tent every time Gasol or Horford takes his lunch.

Regardless of whatever other factors may be outside his control, he clearly has lacked a degree of mental toughness in the playoffs as well.

All valid. But being hurt and unable to contribute also is a factor everyone overlooks.
Then you have teammates like Harden and Simmons to defer to to pick up the slack. Hard to be motivated

The excuses:oldlol:

You mean to tell me he's 100% fine in the regular season and conveniently happens to get injured come playoff time year after year

What a load of bullshit

You saying those injuries are convenient? Didn't realize getting elbowed in the face fracturing your skull is an convenience.

Embiid has definitely been injured a few times in the playoffs, but he also has plenty of mental chokes or just subpar performances.

Way too much flopping/free throw hunting too. He really is similar to the Center version of James Harden (with good defense however).

Great! now we only need him to maintain those numbers for another 7-8 seasons and he will probably be considered one of the best bigs of all-time.
