Joel Embellish been pretending his way to MVP offensive production for a long time. Embiid is apparently this amazing regular season player theat can't get it done in the playoffs when he regresses statistically.

But if expectations are so high come playoffs and he is considered a choker because of performance in the regular season, why do the Sixers never have a high seed in the playoffs?

Obviously their regular seasons are not that great or he and the team would have HCA and be playing a less superior team.

There has been disappointing games for sure, there are plenty of good ones too that get forgotten about on purpose, for agenda. The only true choking was against the Hawks in 2021, the only time the Embiid era Sixers have lost in the playoffs to a lower seed.

I get he is the only MVP to not make the Conference Finals and he is injured a lot, but ultimately the Sixers aren't really "pretending " anything. They just haven't had a team that was good enough and the regular season record over the last 6 years has reflected that.

Simply do better in the regular season and it gives a team a better chance in the playoffs. The Sixers just haven't been good enough in that regard.

Looking back at it all I'm not sure why the expectations for success have been so high with the team depending on upsets virtually every year to advance in the playoffs.

The high expectations for Philly were created by the high level of talent they collected through the process. The evaluation of that talent was so over the top because been Simmons was supposed to be a superstar. Philly fans know, he was a great defender, combing a PF's size with a wing's athleticism and a point guard's court vision. He won RoY over a number of star players. We all generally figured his shooting wasn't a big deal and just didn't know that he was this soft guy. But with him coming as spectacularly short of star standard in the playoffs as he did Philly was a one-star team masquerading as a collection of talent. Philly had a #1 pick that didn't even play like he belonged in the NBA, royally screwed up not signing Jimmy Butler and other high pick wastes in Noel and Okafor. The perceived talent they brought in made it seem like they should be great, basically.

It only reinforces my point that they Sixers are not good enough in the regular season to set themselves up for playoff success.
