Witnessing greatness right now. What a turnaround three for the tie vs GSW

He created 3 shots (including the last shot) and everything else was a rim run, catch-and-shoot, or catch-and-lay, aka system player

He's exactly what I said - a robot - no real ability to pull-up for jumpers and his turnaround is weak - not reliable

He would be nothing in prior eras - can you imagine him playing a format with no spacing and all 10 guys in the paint - he wouldn't get any of these easy looks and dunks that he gets in today's spaced-out free-for-all.. He might not make the league tbh because all of those easy shots weren't available back then

No surprise that Chet can only get 36 when a teammate gets even more, aka no defensive attention - everything was a rim-run, catch-and-shoot, or catch-and-lay - he created 3 shots the entire night and that includes the last shot - he's a system player that lacks pull-up ability off-the-dribble and his turnaround is weak.. of course no jump hook because that requires some physicality to set up

Bro, in Gonzaga he averaged 14 ppg 10 rpg 3.7 blocks per game on 60% shooting from the field. 39% from 3.

Last year's preseason before injury he dropped 23 points 7 rebounds 6 blocks vs Jazz and Taco Fall

3ball’s issues not withstanding, it’s fair to point out the Warriors were missing Green, who’s a much better defensive matchup against Chet than Looney.

Still, not every team has a Draymond Green, so this bodes well for the lad regardless.

It’s obvious he’s already quite seasoned as a basketball player in terms of knowing his game and having a well developed arsenal. He’s been a prospect for a long time and has been training all his life to do exactly this. It’s not surprising a clutch buzzer beater felt routine to him, you can tell hes got a confidence that hes as good as anyone and already belongs among the league’s best.

If the Thunder can keep the band together for a while (which may prove difficult over time given their market size) it’s gonna be a clearly dangerous team.

OKC doesn't need to keep everyone together. They just need to keep SGA and Chet together and fit guys around them similar to what Denver has done adding KCP and Gordon.

Well Gordon and MPJ are on near max contracts, in addition to Murray and Joker on max deals. It hasnt been an issue so far due to cap rising rapidly each year and shrinking the proportion those deals take up. The salary cap wont keep rising this quickly forever. And when it stops I think a lot of teams are gonna find themselves paying big time taxes or havin themselves a fire sale.

Wait a second... what's wrong with that? If he was ball hog you'd go on ball domination Westbrook lebron rant, and if he plays off ball shooting from everywhere on the court he sucks. How's he supposed to be good in your eyes.

Reggie Miller lit up the playoffs in the 90s producing extremely well and winning a lot of games while playing similarly but Chet is way taller and a similar shooter but a better passer, dribbler, defender and rebounder.

You're gonna be eating your words on this guy just like you had to do with Curry when you used to say he'd be a role player scrub in the 80s and 90s.

Reggie Miller took 6-8 FTA per game from 1990-1997 and was a great iso player - take a few minutes and refresh your memory of Miller's iso ability - most of his jumpers were NOT catch-and-shoot and were infact really good iso's - Chet's jumper will never be like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpYGOY5WEDk

guys like Curry or Miller are great iso players - Holmgren will never be unless his turnaround and pull-up get super-polished and reliable so that he can just shoot iso jumper after iso jumper for 30 points like Dirk, Miller, Curry or MJ.. but that will never happen because only 1st options or great 2nd option scorers get to do that and he clearly isn't a 1st option on a champion.. And I don't see a Kyrie-like scoring ability at 2nd option, so he'll be a system player that gets 36 system points like he did last night.
