View Full Version : Kobe only has four rings

Kobe only has 4 rings that count for all time great status. The whole "5 rings" shit doesn't really matter since he was trash in 2000 finals.
Game 1 - 14/3/5/1/2
Game 2 - 2 points (Kobe left game with an ankle injury, Lakers still won without him - Shaq put up 40/24/4 with 3 blocks)
Game 3 - did not play
Game 4 - 28/4/5/1/2 with clutch baskets (Kobe's only good game).
Game 5 - 8 points on 4/20 shooting (Kobe stans love to bring up Lebron's trash 8 point game in the 2011 finals but ignore Kobe's).
Game 6 - 26/10/4/1/2 but on 8/27 shooting (not a completely bad overall game but his scoring was trash).
Total series - 15.6/4.6/4.2/1/1.4 - 9.7 gamescore, 41.1 TS%, 96 ORTG, 116 DRTG
All of the above is TRASH. Yes Kobe obviously was a good player in the first three rounds of the playoffs and helped the Lakers make the finals, but Kobe stans act like Kobe DOESN'T need to play good in the finals which is ridiculous. Kobe's did not play at all-time great level even those the Lakers got a ring in 2000, so that ring does nothing to help his all time ranking. All the Kobe stans and young fans born in 2000 just say "KoBe FiVe RiNgS".

Who cares?
It doesnt have any relevance to begin with.
Kobe indeed has 5 rings. Missing 2 games in the finals or being bad in them doesnt change that.
Only a moron would get worked up about this.

He has 5 rangz, you just need to apply context to them, as you would anybody's rings, MVP's & other accolades.

Before Kobe rolled his ankle, he was averaging ~24/5/5 on 46% shooting. 2000 is also arguably Kobe's best season as an individual defender.
Just because you blindly ignore everything before the finals....doesn't mean Kobe's ring gets negated. :lol The regular-season and playoffs absolutely matter. And Kobe's play vs the Kings and Blazers is a big reason the Lakers even made the finals.
How much value you place on that ring is the argument. Saying it has no value though is incredibly stupid.
realistically, 2* finals mvp, 1 of them belong to Pau.

a championship doesn't just exemplify a single series. it is the end result of the regular season and post-season. it is the culmination of a season's long journey.
which is why i don't consider the 2020 disney invitationals equal to an actual championship. it's something to be celebrated sure, especially if you're a laker fan, but it's NOT the same as winning an actual championship.

Rings means LITERALLY nothing.
Horry has more rings than Wilt.
If you want to then argue “you need context!” then just… use the context. And skip the meaningless rings comaprison. Rings is only an excuse for NOT using context.
“Rings with context” is a complete oxy moron. Nobody can win a ring as an individual except for Lebron, so it’s not a useful criterion for comparing individuals. So just explain why someone is better than someone else. Without a “ring count.” Unless you think Fisher is better than Manu, because the context is theyre both teh role plyureses and Fisher hass more r1ngsz”
So… yeah.

Kobe got hurt in The Finals dummy. Of course his numbers are skewed and going to look bad when he's exiting games in 1st quarters and not even playing in others. And you know it would take a lot for Kobe to sit. That scumbag jalen rose purposely injured him and admits it.
Kobe in 2000 was an All Star, on the All NBA team, and 1st team All Defense. Pretty good for TRASH... huh? Nitpicking the òne series he was injured in to try and prove a point is just lame.

I would argue what he did in game 7 of the WCFs should offset that he wasn't healthy for the entirety of the finals. I think it's reasonable to think his finals production would have been much better otherwise.

Lebron's rings count double because of his competition so it doesnt matter anyway DICKHEAD.
And MJ's rings count .75 so if you do the math Lebron still passes MJ in rings because his rings are worth more rings and MJ's rings are only fractional rings not congruent with the number of titles, in fact Scottie's rings are full rings six rings Scottie has more rings than MJ's rings.

In fact, I think you could rationally argue that Lebron is the ONLY player "rings" actually makes sense for as an argument, and therefore Lebron has 4 rings and nobody else has any.
DEAL WITH IT.

If you want to get TECHNICAL about it, Lebron has 2.71 rings. The 2020 bubble didn't count, as we all know, and his 2012 and 2013 rings combined were worth 1.84 rings. Since the Lakers got Draymond suspended in 2016, that ring is worth .87 rings, therefore he has a total 2.71 rings.
I came up with a complex, but very accurate mathematical formula to derive these numbers. It's science, so you really can't dispute it.

You can't win this argument and just proved what I said in my OP. You Kobe stans literally don't hold Kobe to any standards in the finals. You literally do not expect him to play well in the finals. Do you want Kobe to be the GOAT? Well, you need to hold him to GOAT standards.
Also saying Kobe got "hurt" is bullshit. You can look at this excuse two ways.
1. He was "hurt", yet his team won the finals anyways. What finals are MJ/Lebron winning "hurt" and playing like shit? ZERO. So it's an even bigger carry job by Shaq carrying a hurt Kobe.
2. The whole "game 4" that Kobe stans rely on was after he got "hurt". So was he really "hurt"? No he wasn't hurt, he just sucked.
Here are Kobe's stats game 4-6:
21/6/4 on 35/29/89 and shot 25 times per game . 39.8 TS%, 94 ORTG, 123 DRTG. Just bad everywhere. Yes he did have a great game in game 4 closing things out. But that's his only good game. Literally the next game, Kobe put up 8 points (ironic considering how much Kobe stans shit on Lebron's 8 point finals game.)
Lakers easily lose that finals if not for Shaq being at his absolute peak and ragdolling everybody.

How.... is saying Kobe got hurt "bullshit". He factually got injured and missed serious time in that series. Basically 2 out of 6 games. It's just simple fact lol.
https://youtu.be/f2GB-O3aDIQ?si=_RK5e4F6crK8lOPJ
And again. Some of yall need a history lesson. The Pacers were NOT the Lakers toughest competition. The Blazers and Kings were.
You guys that keep using the Finals meaning it was the toughest competition but in Kobe and Shaqs case they werent, and you are thus exposing the fact you have no clue what you're talking about ŵas going on back then.
As it relates to Lebron? Everybody knows his east paths were weak and the western competion he saw at the end was by FAR the best competition.
Kobe and Lebron had inverse competition paths. Lebron for most his career in the East had it easy, and then had to face a juggernaut in The Finals. Kobe otoh faced gauntlets in The West, and despite the East teams he faced being great defenses they were signifigantly weaker overall.
This isn't opinion... it's historical fact. As was seen on the 1st page, you're being viewed as a dunce acting like there wasn't a vast contextual discrepancy in the quality of their paths as far as who were the best teams they faced at each level.
But it honestly isn't suprising....:lol
I would respond in detail, but I addressed all of this in multiple other posts in this thread. You didn't disprove anything I said.

It's called holding someone to the GOAT standard, which has a huge emphasis on playoffs and FINALS performances. There is a reason why no one says MJ and Pippen are equal despite winning 6 rings each.
There is so much damn irony coming from the Kobe stans "You boiled down an 100+ game season from a player to 4 games." THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT KOBE STANS DO FOR LEBRON'S WHOLE CAREER
Kobe wasn't just bad on offense in the 2000 finals, he was bad on defense too. Wasn't Kobe supposed to slow these guys down?

Kobe puts up -15.6/4.6/4.2/1/1.4 - 9.7 gamescore, 41.1 TS%. Kobe stans count this as an all time great run.
Lebron puts up - 30/11/9/3/2 - 26.5 gamescore, 56.2 TS%, while winning FMVP. Kobe stans try to undermine this at every turn.
