Shaq entered the league and broke the single-season dunk record with 322 dunks in his rookie season. He followed it up with 381 dunks in 1993-94, 328 dunks in 1994-95, and 157 dunks in 1995-96. When added to his existing 1996-2011 total of 2626, you get 3814 dunks. However, this doesn't include playoff dunks from '94, '95, and '96.

Pretty crazy stuff. 4.7 dunks per game in 1993-94. Rudy had a 306 dunk season in 2019. I think Shaq would do 400+ with no problem in today's league. Dwight (254 in 2007 and 269 in 2008) would be good for 300+ as well.

MAGIC MIGHT BECOME A FRIGHTENING REALITY

November 4, 1994

O'Neal's glaring weakness is free-throw shooting (his 55 percent from the line last season was actually 4 percent worse than his rookie year). His critics say he has only one offensive move, the dunk. But like a pitcher who can only throw an unhittable fastball, no one has found a way a to stop him. He dunked a league-high 381 times last season on his way to finishing second in the NBA in scoring with 29.3 points a game. He also finished second in rebounds (13.2 per game) and fifth in blocked shots (2.85).
