First of all, happy Thanksgiving. Except for you woketards who hate America.
Randomly caught this extremely awful joke from Oliver's show and I thought it was really indicative of the state of comedy and also the state of left wing "resistance" comedy.

The joke comes at the 3:40 mark.
To summarize, Oliver is responding to those in Hollywood who've been penning open letters and demanding that the Israeli hostages need to be freed. He's basically saying that everyone already feels this way about the hostages, and that the sentiment is so obviously shared it doesn't need to be said in the first place.
Saying "Israeli hostages need to be freed" is like saying "Pie is good" he says. It's like saying "Rainbows are beautiful" he says.
But then he compares saying "Israeli hostages need to be freed" with.... "Yoshi is amazing in the sack."

Yes, that Yoshi. From the Mario games.
I repeat. Saying "Israeli hostages need to be freed"... is like saying "Yoshi is amazing in the sack." Accompanied by a picture of Yoshi with his tongue out.
And as if this joke couldn't get any more weird or more cringe, John Oliver and his team of writers actually further explain the meaning of the joke by pointing out the size of his tongue. You know just in case their genius writing went over our heads.
This is not just some indie comic in his basement with a youtube channel. Oliver is one of the leading voices when it comes to left wing commentary and left wing comedy. His show is well funded and mass distributed. Hollywood has given it multiple emmy's.
And yet the show is written by literal children with the emotional maturity of an edgelord teenager. These are the so called voices leading the way when it comes to the "resistance". Someone in that writers room came up with that joke, and then someone else green-lit it.
