What do you mean third stage?
Because Ive been telling people society is just now entering a uniquely defined third period of human history that a lot of people dont really appreciated the magnitude of. But havent seen the idea of the third stage discussed elsewhere.

Putting it in past tense was just a typo.
I meant people dont really appreciate what kind of paradigm shift to our entire civilization structure the upcoming waves of technology will present.
They are going to absolutely change everything.

This movie was mediocre at best. It was incoherent and nonsensical, and the starring actors were entirely forgettable.
Calling this the greatest movie of all time is so insulting to the actual greatest movies of all time... in a year from now, nobody is gonna remember this boring and empty movie, but people will always remember the godfather, the matrix, predator, empire strikes back, back to the future, goodfellas, taxi driver, 2001, fight club, the shining, heat, LOTR trilogy, alien, terminator 2, inception, lethal weapon, blade runner, pulp fiction, the dark knight, training day... and a million more movies that were actually good

What if I said greatest "Netflix" movie of all time?
would that be more accurate?
Honestly... I felt like if M. Night Shyamalan made a masterpiece... this would be it. It had that type of feel to it.
This movie was better than Sixth Sense, Signs, and Unbreakable... and those movies were masterpieces by my standard.
nevertheless... it's the greatest movie of all time because the predictive programming can't get any more obvious.

Greatest netflix movie of all time is like saying greatest WNBA team of all time...any legitimate list of the top 50 or 100 movies of all time will not include a single netflix movie.
There was nothing remotely masterpiece about this film, and I bet that if you watched this movie back to back with those M Night movies you mentioned, you'd think that the M night stuff shits all over this movie. Nobody is gonna remember this shit in a year from now, its gonna be just like that netflix film about the asteroid that everyone immediately forgot despite the fact it was starring dicaprio and jennifer lawrence.
If preditive programming is what makes a movie great, then "They Live" is easily the greatest movie of all time

Leave the World Behind is from the same director of Mr. Robot (Sam Esmail) .... And Mr. Robot is one of the most f*cked up TV shows I've ever seen.
Definitely a Masterpiece.... and probably one of the greatest shows ever produced. 45 episodes in 4 seasons...
While I didn't care much for the ending, everything else is perfect (especially the music), and the star of the show would later go on to win an Oscar.
I'll give Devs a watch... but I can assure you it won't be better than Mr.Robot, you should watch if you haven't already

i agree with you on Mr. Robot...some of those episodes were masterpieces on their own merit and probably some of the best TV I have ever watched. I forget why I don't rank this show up there with BB/Wire/Sopranos, it deserves to be mentioned among them for sure. I think the entire 4th season was a work of art, up there with Season 1 of True Detective. Both shows had a flat ending though...lots of lost potential/disapointment :oldlol:
Had no idea Esmail wrote leave the world behind, i think it fell short of its goal as a movie though, felt like a lot more could have been done with it given the plot and the really good cast.

for what it's worth, i truly believe a lot of these tv/movies with these eerie/doom/end of the world/conspiracy plots are gaining popularity with more audiences than ever before because of how disconnected everyone feels with each other. we've also seen how corrupt and menacing our own government has become, the patriot act and jon snowden really illuminated the truth to a lot of people, not just americans. it's no longer a secret. the world was fvcked up long before the patriot act, long before george orwell's book...but not too many people payed attention until now. we're more connected than ever through the internet, particularly the social media platforms, yet people feel more disconnected than ever. social decay may play a function as a result of corporate conspiracies, but ultimately, this world is becoming more and more fvcked up no matter what the crime stats read. stats are easily manipulated by those that understand statistics.
i am deeply interested in watching this film for personal reasons that i do not wish to share on the internet, but let's just say the ATF's handling of certain past events may have something to do with how i view our government. i don't trust it, because it is evil, it is unchecked and it will trample over anything you view as your "right". and no one will hold them accountable.

Most of the Netflix Originals are garbage. Leave the World Behind was incredibly mid if not bad all together. The only saving grace of the movie was the suspense. Once you figure out it's a cyber attack and you see the movie for what it is it was completely underwhelming. They ended all that suspense on the daughter watching the season of Friends she hadn't finished watching yet. Really? Garbage.
Civil War was mid.
This Zero Day will be mid if not bad. If RDN wasn't in it no one would care about it.
There are exceptions for good things they put out, but it's few and far between. Their best is probably All Quiet on the Western Front.

Maybe... but the fact is Robert De Niro was in this and he made the show fan-f*cking-tastic.
Zero Day has some flaws... there is no such thing as a flawless masterpiece in film.
Netflix produces a bunch of garbage... I've made a thread on this before, but every now & then they produce a gem... Zero Day is one those Netflix Gems... Ironically De Niro's Irishman was another.
I'll admit I had high hopes for Leo's "Don't Look Up" film... and I would describe that as "mid if not bad" but that is not the case with Zero Day.
Zero Day is greatness.
I can't say Zero Day is better than Hulu's Paradise but it is close.

The Irishman was over-rated to me, but it was still good.
I don't watch too many shows and I'm pretty picky about what I watch because it's a huge time investment and I'd rather do other things with my life. The show for me has to be extremely good looking and enticing for me. Breaking Bad, Shogun, Band of Brothers, etc. I know there's shows out there that are good that I'll never watch because I don't want to risk the time investment, but that's okay with me.

I've been rewatching Zero Day... to me it's 100% worth the time investment... it's f*cking great and even got me a little emotional at times which TV rarely does.
Only 6 episodes.
it's a mini-series... 6 (45-50 minute) episodes and you're done.
There will not be a season 2...
Everyone keeps telling me to watch Game of Thrones which I never got around to doing... Now that would be a time investment, and I'm not really into Dungeons & Dragons / Lord of the Rings type of stuff.
Zero Day is relevant to today's world and I feel like every American should watch it.

Any thoughts or links for this one ?
I ain’t seen it yet.
Just recently watched a really odd one Lucas did when young, with a young Robert DuVall, THX 1138, as well as planning to re-watch the 1971 Andromeda Strain. Been in the mood for strange scifi / strange films in general. Especially older ones with lower tech production, so it’s easier to decipher their more primal/core intentions, without the disclosure being caked in layers of makeup.

I started watching Daredevil: Born Again and so far I like it. Still gritty like the original Netflix series, not exactly the same, but the same enough to feel this is more of Daredevil Season 4, than a new show.
Apparently when the writers strike happened they brought in some people from the original Netflix show and reshoot much of the show and did rewrites and instead of having one 18 episode season they're going to have two 9 episode seasons. It looks like the reshoots and rewrites paid off because the first two episodes were very solid. Especially the gut punch intro in episode 1 and the Fisk and Murdock meeting at the diner. That's probably the best acting between those two characters sharing the same scene on that show.

As you can read... this thread got a little off topic when I was asked about Wizard of Oz.

I don't give a f*ck what anybody says... there was some kind of subliminal programming with 9/11 into the masses minds through various forms of media.
Otherwise it's the biggest group of Super Natural Coincidences of all time.
All you have to do is look at the Simpsons... they just randomly predict world events by dumb luck? I don't think so.
