Don't get me wrong, there are certain death metal bands I like. Like, I've yet to find a bad Bolt Thrower record. I'm just starting to get into Venom. I have a couple of Amon Amarth albums as well. But for the most part, what I listen to, it's probably a mix of Thrash and I guess Traditional or Classical, however you want to call it. Lots of Priest and Maiden. Lots of Overkill, Testament, and Death Angel.

What I mean is that it's hard to call something heaviest when it doesn't really set itself apart from the 1000 other metal core bands. Of course those riffs will sound heavier than something done 40 years ago, when you can run a guitar through a kemper or an amp sim and have it distorted to the max without the signal breaking down. The riffs themselves aren't that heavy in any way.
