Probably most consider it to be Russell even tho stats barely existed then and nobody has actually watched him in context. People tend to just give the oldest guy in the argument top status by default.
But Yama is gonna be a serious candidate for best defensive player ever if he stays healthy. So at what point does that status get recognized?
Does he need x amount of DPOYS, or winning x amount of titles the way people measure the overall GOAT, or like… what?
I feel like the criteria should be established now so that people cant just make it up later on to support whichever side of the argument they wanna come down on.
