Ode to Lebron James

He came to the league with great expectations,
They dubbed him The Chosen One.
He gave himself the name King James,
His haters called him LeBum.

Athleticism carried him to great heights,
But he couldn't win a chip,
So he told the Cavs, "See you later!"
And turned around and jumped ship.

He switched his number to twenty-three;
Like Mike he wanted to be.
But Mike's shoes were too big - he couldn't fill them,
As it was plain to see.

His fanboys would say, "Just watch him play,
He gets rebounds, assists, and such."
Good stats he got, but they mattered not
'Cause he couldn't come through in the clutch.

The problem was, he couldn't win a title,
'Til he found a brilliant solution.
He'd get his ring one way or another,
By tampering and collusion.

He won three finals and lost six more,
His fans forgave his losing.
"It's his teammate's fault," they always would say,
As they clung to the stats of their choosing.

Twenty twenty came - the year of the bubble,
He brought the Heat to their knees.
But he couldn't repeat, because Anthony Davis
Got injured by a stiff breeze.

Bronie became desperate; he needed more rings.
So his War Room came up with a plan.
If anybody can save the Lakers
Surely Russ Westbrick can.

"A storm is a-comin'," Lebron proclaimed,
But he said it a little too soon.
When the post-season arrived, where was Bronie?
Kicked back on a beach in Cancun.

Now he's got four rings and three asterisks
But he never was quite the best,
He got smashed by Durant, crushed by Kawhi,
And sonned by Delonte West.

Ode to The Haters of LeBron

In a world where greatness reigns supreme,
There stands a man, in basketball a dream.
Some choose to hate, to belittle and scorn,
But here's an ode to LeBron, the King reborn.

With grace he plays, a sight to behold,
A story of brilliance, time and again told.
His critics are loud, but their words ring hollow,
For in LeBron's light, they merely follow.

A king on the court, with skill so fine,
Each move, each shot, like a crafted design.
His haters cry foul, their words steeped in jest,
But in the face of greatness, he's clearly the best.

They say he's no Jordan, no Kobe, no Bird,
But watch him play, and see that's absurd.
For every dunk, every pass, every score,
LeBron's legacy grows, forever more.

He's more than stats, more than rings and fame,
His impact on the game, forever to claim.
The King of the court, with a heart that's pure,
In the face of hate, his legacy secure.

So let the critics rant, let them have their say,
In the end, it's LeBron who leads the way.
With strength, with honor, with skill so rare,
In the annals of basketball, none can compare.

To the haters, the doubters, those lost in the night,
Remember this King, in his full might.
For in the realm of basketball, he wears the crown,
LeBron James, the King, forever renown.

My Dad's almost 77. Completely casual sports fan and rarely watches the NBA or knows anything about it.
Lebron was on the news about something, and my Dad said "Boy he's sure not as good as Jordan was" and then said "I don't think he's as good as that kid that died in the helicopter either".

No, Dad, he sure isn't.

So your Dad who you said is a casual and couldn't even remember Kobe's name said MJ & Kobe > LeBron and you felt the need to share this with us.

Fascinating stuff.

What's funny is how a random casual understands the game better than our self proclaimed ISH basketball historian. :lol
