"Warriors head coach Steve Kerr felt that many of the players were baiting their way into foul calls with minimal contact, and he let his opinion be known after the game."

"I have no problem with the officials themselves," Kerr said after the game. "All across the league, we have really good officials. I have a problem with the way we are legislating defense out of the game. That's what we're doing in the NBA. The way we're teaching the officials, we're just enabling players to B.S. their way to the foul line. If I were a fan, I wouldn't have wanted to watch the second half of that game. It was disgusting.

"It was just baiting refs into calls, but the refs have to make those calls because that's how they're taught. So, I have a real problem with the way we've legislated defense out of the game in this league. And the players are really smart in this league, and for over the last decade or so, they've gotten smarter and smarter and they're just -- we have enabled the players and they are taking full advantage and it's a parade to the free throw line. And it's disgusting to watch."

...

"Here's an example of the type of play that Kerr is likely addressing. As Jokic dribbles down the court, he draws minimal contact from Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis. But Jokic's reaction, a flail and a look toward the official, results in a foul and two free throws."

...

"But, understandably, Kerr would feel frustrated after watching Jokic repeatedly make his way to the free throw line in the second half of their Christmas Day loss."

Worth noting, he never calls out Jokic by name. But it's obvious who he's referring to. As Jokic shot 18 free throws! (https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401585030). The entire warriors starting lineup shot 11.

Well today was an anomaly for Jokic, he averages under 6 FTA’s a game for the season.

So what does he expect the league and refs to do? The NBA isn't going back to the slow ass overrated days when he played (when they actually averaged more free throws per game than now).

They don't need to make the game slow. Just stop catering the entire sport towards offense and flopping. Stop giving FTs to bozos who jump on defenders while pretending to shoot just to get FTs. Just.. do what they did 3? seasons ago for two months and actually stick to it. RS hadn't been that good in a 10+ years. However stars and superstars cried, and Silver bent over and changed his stance.

The Kings, a 1st round exit team just broke the GOAT offensive record last regular season.

Yeah that is true. More FT's back in the 80's and 90s. (actually the further back you go, the more FT's even to the 50's when they had 50% more FT than today).

Acting works because the refs don't have a bird's eye view on what's going on. They are inferring and if they can't tell, the player's reaction influences them.

My frustration in watching the games on fouls is:

1. Too much home-cooking (for example, this game was at Denver. one could argue there's always home cooking but it seems it's gotten worse to me from the standpoint of ratios between home and away teams)

2. Refs blow calls on obvious calls and then call fingernail fouls. Inconsistency. Acting has something to do with this. Some players who aren't acting get whacked and no call.

Personally I think they should complement on-court refs with remote refs in a studio with a bird's eye view. Each remote ref has a birds eye view of a particular part of the floor with the right camera angle.

That way the refs will be no worse than the average person at home watching on TV seeing the fouls.

I don't think it's as much of a ref issue though, it's a league problem. We saw a few seasons back when the refs got the directive, they were reffing the game much harsher and most players looked like frauds out there. After 2 months of whiny complaining by all these stars, Silver bent the knee.
