English surprised me because recently there was that record scoring nba game but there were others in the 80’s that were more insane. But I was looking some stuff up on the 80’s nuggets and I could have sworn alex english had at least 30 ppg season but was surprised when he didn’t

bird you would think would have it

david robinson dropped 71 or 72? in a game to win the scoring title from shaq, you would think he got a 30 ppg one

shaq you think he took time off and could be lazy during the regular season but it still won’t effect averages. and shaq was a scoring title contender guy of course

melo you think would have one, always gunning and can score as good as anyone

30 ppg is a pretty insanely hard mark to hit historically speaking. In the last few years because of obvious reasons that have been beat to death on here the 30 ppg season has started to lose its luster a bit compared to what it was in the past

Yea keep in mind 30 / 100 is not the same as 30 / 120 haha.

Everyone cant average an embiid. You know how some people call scoring 55 a double nickel? Well on my block we call averaging 30 “averaging an embiid”. Because he does it so many damn times. It’s named after him now…..shaq could never. Any other center who turned pro this millennium could never

Alex English who scored the most points in the 80's never cracking 30PPG is shocking.

Larry Bird...Bird being such a great passer not a shock.
Shaq....I grew up watching him, they fouled him for a reason
Robinson/Ewing....yeah they were a bit surprising especially Ewing because he was a total package guy who could shoot anywhere on the court and didn't have any scoring teammates till Allen Houston.
Stackhouse...yeah Jordan killed that career

Stackhouse didn't need help killing his career. Being an inefficient gunner was enough. Still better than a lot of guys you want in the HOF though :lol

Shaq and Barkley

Dale Ellis and Gilbert Arenas

Never heard of Richie Guerin. Shame on me.
Shaq avg 29+ three times, 28+ twice and 27+ twice.

Barkley avg 28+ once and 27+ once. He usually hovered around the 25 point mark.

Arenas had a nice three season run of 26, 29 and 28 before the injury (and gun.)

Dale Ellis peaked in Seattle (first go around) with 25+ in four seasons.

Richie Guerin was a Hall of Fame guard for the Knicks in the 50s and 60s. 29.5 is eight points higher than his 2nd highest ppg avg of 21.8. Very interesting. Came in 1962 when multiple player had their career high ppg avg. What was with that 62 season.

Barkley avg 28+ once and 27+ once. He usually hovered around the 25 point mark.

As a kid and a huge Barkley fan, I used to find it frustrating that Barkley didn't try and score more. When he wanted to get off a high percentage shot, he always could. But it felt like he never really tried to be a high volume scorer, instead he played more within the team's offense. I'm not sure he was every really interested in his numbers

92 in particular should have been a big scoring year for him, because he was on a trash team with no hope of doing anything that season. He could easily of played a lot of 'give me the ball and get out of the way' kind of basketball, but instead he pretty much quit on the 76ers.

Russell Westbrook is the all time leader in triple doubles and Lebron couldn't even make the play in with him. Lebron also lost in round 2 with Shaq and won bronze medal with peak Duncan.

Shaq had the most seasons with 30+ points in an entire playoff run with three. George Mike had two. Alex English and Gilbert Arenas have one.

Arenas has the highest playoff run with 34 ppg.
Purvis Short has the lowest (or shortest) with 14.6.
