Giannis, Jokic, and Embiid have the top 3 PER's ever, so it's literally the opposite of what they said..
this settles a debate we had on this issue.. accordingly, the strongside flood is nothing because it isn't available or possible or needed when there's no spacing - only the spacing allows the strongside flood to be a possible strategy and it merely combats the spacing, and quite poorly I might add.
It combats the spacing poorly because it's well-known that post players or perimeter drivers simply wait out the 3 second count until the shading/flooding defender runs back to the weakside - so the rules literally mandate that the flooding defender run away from the driver or post player and back to the weakside, at which point the post player makes their move unfettered.. There's plenty of video of post players or perimeter drivers waiting out the flooder in this fashion and making their move once the flooder starts to run back to the weakside.. Smart players like Jokic, Embiid and Giannis abuse this kind of thing.. They also abuse the weakside being a man down and the defense being overly-spaced-out and in flux with too many decisions to make due to the spacing
