He's sold his vineyard and the mansion for a smaller place. With his wife passing away, the idea of retirement scares him. So he really doesn't have anything left to live for besides basketball. Unfortunately, he's too old/senile to be putting in the necessary hours required for a successful head coach and passing off those duties to his unqualified assistants. There was a moment last night where the Spurs were drawing up a play on a timeout and Popovich was nowhere near the huddle - it was an assistant coaching the players. It was kinda sad to watch. Even Zach Lowe mentioned as much in his podcast: "The Spurs shouldn't be this bad but we don't wanna ruffle any legendary feathers"
