im not asking you to draw any particular conclusion.

I’m just asking you to do those two things and tell me what you think.

This is what happens when we let filthy rich people who never played basketball at a high level, and don’t respect sports culture, come in like vultures, and view it like any other of their assets, and apply the same tired, pompous ideas upon sports culture; as if somehow they’re improving it lol.

These MF’s can’t enjoy anything. And we all need to collectively stop listening to them, and buy these teams back, and return salaries and ticket prices to sane levels, so we can pack loud stadiums full of real people. Not some rich little snobby prodigal son (as shown in kblaze link) who is gonna be on his phone the whole game & doesn’t care about the game, more than any other event he wants to be seen at.

Gimme the war chants and real people all day.

Fu@k catering to the stupid ideas of the new, undeservedly filthy rich “ownership class.”

This has nothing to do with people this passionate not affording to be able to go. The only place in America where people have anything even approaching this level of blind allegiance and tribalism towards sports teams is college ball because it's literally a direct reflection of themselves in their pea brains and even then its nothing compared to that clip. Pro sports teams are perceived to be far more business oriented and the fans are a reflection of that.

It's a cultural thing in the States. You could ban everyone above a certain income from US sports games and they're still not going to look like those foreign crowds.

The US population is very very very self focused.

If by wealthy you mean lower middle class, then yes.

Let's take this really low and ban people in crowds from making 50k or more a year. The crowds are not going to look all that different from how they do now. Do you see the people in the nosebleed seats looking like this now?

For what it's worth we were initially on food stamps when I was a kid.

Yes, if you put exclusively very low income, very low IQ people in crowds, they would start to get a lot more life to them. But that's a different discussion. It's largely a cultural issue from country to country, I assure you.

I'm a business man who plays sports, I'm an athlete who doesn't keep score, because God said, you gotta try and answer your own prayer now and then

I think if the Lakers organization can find someone who's willing to pay them 5 million a year for just 12 seats, I think that's a no brainer.

he's right though. i've sat courtside, i've sat middle, i've sat up top. there's a mixture of real fans and rich ppl. rich ppl bring escorts/golddiggers that are only there so they can upload a selfie and a video on their social media. the rich guys are there for superficial reasons as well (status, etc). and the suns crowd is loud as hell, but the rich people ruin the atmosphere. as barber said, the teams have priced out real fans and are gatekeeping the product in person. anyone can watch on tv, but it's never like being there in person and yelling your lungs out.

and yeah, the suites, the food buffets in the tunnels for courtside are lowkey garbage. the food catering is generic but everyone is too buzzed/drunk to realize the food and experience is lackluster.

He's not right though. Yelling your lungs out and acting like an ass, which American stadiums have plenty of, is not even remotely the same thing as a stadium going ballistic in solidarity like the aforementioned clip. It's a cultural thing, primarily.

Maybe this is the closest thing you will see in American pro sports? It's such a tame comparison, lol.

you're partially correct that futbol fans tend to be more hardcore, but you're comparing games in arenas holding 60-80k people to nba arenas holding 18k lol

I would definitely prefer the luxury box. I don't care for the crowd experience at all. In fact I prefer watching the game at home to the Garden with all the time eating bs involved with getting into a game. Plus the food at the Garden is terrible. Never order the popcorn, by the way.

Yup.

The clip in the OP looks like something out of a North Korean military parade tbh.

Shit is wild.

That is how the arena owners really rake it in.
