Exactly. I'm watching old movies not new ones.

John Wick 4 was okay but the bullet proof suits was just too dumb for me.

Society of Snow

Not bad but I couldn't help noticing a couple of these guys didn't grow any facial hair in over 2 months

Last year was a little weak but this was a great year for movies.

I watch a lot of movies since I've got the regal unlimited. My favorite movies of the year, in no order are:

Air
Dumb Money
The Iron Claw
Spidey Across the Universe
Guardians of Galaxy 3
American Fiction (even though I watched that yesterday :lol)
Poor Things (also watched it in 2024 but it's a 2023 movie)
Oppenheimer
Godzilla Minus 1
John Wick 4

The movie that a lot of people liked but I didn't, is Past Lives. Not my cup of tea and it had nothing to do with it being Korean. Depressing and felt pointless.

A couple of them didn't grow full beards. I could see some of them shaving because...well they had water razors and lots of time.

The bigger issue for me is why are these foreign films (Godzilla minus One, Society of Snow, The Boy and the Heron) looking significantly better than these 200 million dollar US releases.

It's an interesting question. Hollywood accounting? Or sheer incompetence?

I think the NBA is a similar analogy in that the rest of the world has kind of caught up. The lack of adherence to standard Hollywood tropes is refreshing for those of us that have seen pretty much everything it has to offer.

you don't need 200 million to make a film look good. society of the snow for example had a 65 million budget, that's plenty to get the cinematography on point. i've seen short films with budgets in the thousands have excellent cinematography. and this film in particular didn't have a-list actors along with studios eating up 50 million just for participating.

I'm going to rank Nolan movies:

Dark Knight Rises - 10/10
Dark Knight - 10/10
Inception - 9.5/10
The Prestige - 9.4/10
Batman Begins - 9.2/10
Tenet - 9/10
Interstellar - 8.9/10

Insomnia - 7.8/10
Memento - 7.5/10
Oppenheimer - 7.2/10
Dunkirk - 7/10

Oppenheimer is a very interesting movie.... but was it entertaining? I don't think it was.

Not exactly the type of movie you go see with a group of friends at the theater.

Are you really clowning on someone for not picking a THIRD sequel for movie of the year?
