View Full Version : Who do you think Trump will choose as running mate (if he wins Repub nomination)?
I think it'll be Tim Scott - evangelical Christian, senator (congressional experience), black, Pence-like laid back personality (not Type A), mysteriously dropped out of the race (maybe Trump offered).
Some other alternatives:
1. Nikki Haley - strongest VP candidate - might bring the surburban women, independents/moderates/dare I say never Trumpers hoping Trump will die on the job :-), neocons/warmongers/establishment/RINO appeasement. Anathema to the MAGA movement though.
2. Vivek - might bring the youth, new voters - joining Trump's campaign
3. Kristi Noem - woman with executive experience
4. DeSantis - don't think he would accept although he should be Trump's successor if Trump is fortunate enough to win presidency - I think he would prefer to be FL's governor and his own boss than VP.
OT: Nikki Haley/Joe Manchin would be a formidable No Labels ticket. Hopefully Haley honors that statement she signed promising to support the eventual Republican nominee.

Hopefully Vivek
Tulsi? - all the pluses of Nikki without the warmonger/RINO/establishment negatives.
Kari Lake? - Trump loves her but she has no experience and reinforces the election denier theme.

none of those aside from maybe kari lake and possibly tulsi. it'll most likely be some non-spotlight beta that we rarely hear about in the media.

No way Trump picks anyone who will upstage him so goodbye Ramaswamy, DeSantis, MTG, Bobert, Tucker.
He will want someone as boring as Pence.
The ideal pick for him would be Ben Carson but the white, racist, male, MAGA base would never accept this.

Lol yea, it's MAGA that Ben Carson needs to worry about and not the racist left.
Libs talk about conservative blacks the way white racists talked about blacks back before civil rights.
Sarah Huckabee? She's overweight, and you know how Trump is about looks. She was at his last Miami rally.

Who knows what really goes into a VP pick. Who knows what kind of arrangements are made.
I will say this though. From purely an optics standpoint, I want him to pick Tulsi Gabbard. I think the left's heads would explode.
And boy oh boy would that make for an entertaining VP debate.

:oldlol:
how exactly would ben carson be the ideal pick? because he is black?
Anyway the idea that the so-called "maga base" would reject a running mate simply because of their skin color is laughably... ask any of the members of this supposed "maga base" who the best supreme court justice is, 99.9% of them will say Clarence Thomas.

Strongest Candidate would be Ron IMO, but i say that because I wanted him over Trump.
Vivek is a good candidate as well but I think he's too much like Trump in terms of persona to get along for four years. But there's one thing he wouldn't do, and that's disappear like Kamala Harris has this entire presidency.

DeSantis has basically the same policies as Trump (minus the baggage and personality).
Heard somewhere that Vivek is Trump with a photographic memory (Glenn Beck on PBD podcast). He can speak eloquently on all subjects, smart, personality. I'd like to see Trump, DeSantis, then Vivek (the last 2 know history/Constitution unlike Trump who doesn't :-)

He even staged a fake proposal to some white chick to be considered for Trump's VP yesterday.
Everyone knows she is his beard.
Some Trump person said that the most important quality in VP choice was: being PRESIDENT for the 8 years after him (paraphrased). That would rule out evangelical/Congressional help Tim Scott/Pence type. Vivek or DeSantis (probably isn't interested) if Trump wants MAGA/an extension of his presidency.

It's gotta be Ramaswamy. I would have said Kari Lake 6 months ago, but she's too controversial even though I think she'll be a force for years to come. I really like Tulsi Gabbard, but she strikes me as the type of person to run on a ticket post-Trump where things start to get back to normal. But Ramaswamy has the pulse right now. Plus, he's young. That will resonate with younger voters that Republicans need to capture.
All those other Republicans are bland and boring like Mike Pence was and that doesn't fit the Trump ticket, especially this time around where Trump and his team need to be on the attack after being attacked for the last eight years.

Vivek can be in the cabinet but I don't think he is perfect from an optics standpoint, and sometimes winning an election is about optics.
There are people out there who won't vote for Trump because he has a very rough edge. That's why I think from an optics standpoint, Tulsi is the best pick. She smooths him out and helps make him more palatable to those types of people.
I like Vivek, but to women and beta cuck soyboys, he might be a little rough.
It's a pity it can't be DeSantis - he is so good at executing/getting things done and with a bland personality, he's a good combo with Trump. I like Vivek's ideas, but he's so young, so new to politics and has a personality that might clash with Trump's.

The thing is, it has to be a running mate who will be an extension of Trump for 2028 and beyond. If it's a bland candidate, then a Democrat like Gavin Newsome will run circles around them in 2028 even though DeSantis did well against him in their one-on-one debate last year. The problem I have with DeSantis is that he talks too much. He's not direct and to the point. He extends his answers far past the point of the point he is trying to make and it's unnecessary. To me, it makes me want to tune him out. Where as with people like Ramaswamy, he gets to the crux of the matter immediately. Answers his questions in one sentence. To the point. Concise. The RINOs in this party and the people that support them are slowly dying out. The MAGA message will only get stronger, but it has to live on past Trump's four years if he's elected. Newsome is a terrifying candidate to consider as President in 4 years.

What makes you think that maga message can live on past 2024 into 2028? Do we forget the fact of how poorly it did in 2020 and 2022? 2018 didn't look good either for maga.

If Trump is prioritizing continuation of MAGA (over congressional experience/evangelical Christian vote which he NOW has), Scott is too nice/soft - he'll get killed by any Democrat. Vivek knows the Constitution/history, is very quick on his feet and presumably has been around the cutthroat business world.

And being about himself includes the legacy that he leaves behind. Whatever you think about Trump, he has changed the Republican party from the RINO/Bush lean to a more populist party. I doubt he wants someone like Haley to be president after him - he'd rather DeSantis or Vivek.
I wish he would wait a bit for the bitterness of DeSantis' loss to subside and approach DeSantis' wife about possible VP. DeSantis would have nothing to lose trying/running as VP - he can remain Governor if Trump/DeSantis ticket loses. He really has the ideal age, experience (Congressional and Executive) and education/knowledge to carry on MAGA.
I doubt Trump is reading some obscure political board on a BASKETBALL forum - it's all speculation.

Good point. That is why he chose Mike Pence in 2016. Moderate, low-key w/ government experience, and appeals to evangelicals. Categories that Trump didn't fit.
