longer than I've been following the league. I never saw a 50 win Wizards team. My older brother liked their championship team if I remember correctly

They won maybe 48-49 games when they had Gilbert, Jamison, and Butler I believe. And they did win 3 playoff series in Beals time there with Wall. Just never had really good records.

Charlotte comes second at being worst in it. The last time they won at least 50 was almost three decades ago.

That graphic isn't true but they were really successful in the 70s. I think they went to the Finals four times in a 9 year period. Might be the most successful team percentage wise in the 70s. Never missed the playoffs

Yeah, they were good with Hayes and Unseld 45 years ago. The graphic might be off by a year or two but not much.

1979 was their last 50 win season. They made the finals that year and lost to Seattle, who they beat in the finals the year before.

They were down in the '78 finals and Dick Motta, their coach at the time, was quoted as saying " the opera isn't over till the fat lady sings". Then they ended up winning the title. I had one of those tshirts.

Such a weird thing to say when it is absolutely true :lol

Could've sworn they had at least 1 with Wall & Beal

That's ****ing crazy

I found myself watching some of those back to back finals not long ago. Dennis Johnson was out there a couple games blocking shots like Manute Bol off straight verticals.

Oh and is that the origin of the “it ain’t over till the fat lady sings” cliché? A surprising number of those things are from athletes and wrestlers. Ric Flair must’ve coined a good three common phrases that nobody knows is from wrestling. Yogi Berra, Ric Flair, Ali, and Chick Hearn should have trademarks on like 10% of all sports cliches and descriptions.

Every now and then Jokic will do the Jack Sikma shot.

Bobby dandridge was my favorite player on those bullets teams. At the end of the game I wanted him to get the ball. Not a big time star but a smart player and clutch.

No idea where that saying started but he certainly popularized it.

I read it as .500 not -50 tho.
Still, they won 54 games in 79 season.

While we're on the Wizards, they might have some of the must underrated guards in History to play for them.

Brad Beal
John Wall
Gilbert Arenas
Michael Adams
Phil Chenier
Kevin Porter
Don Ohl

Maybe if underrated and not being remembered, were the same thing. People who are aware of those players, I would say generally rank them about right. Most were never close to elite.

Damn.

This is wild as a Wolves fan seeing other franchises pulling the most inept shit out of their ass.

Detroit this year?
Now this?

Suddenly the Wolves don't have a monopoly on being a garbage organization

A few of those players were as good as All-NBA 2nd teamers. Reggie Miller never even made a 2nd team.

Charlotte comes second at being worst in it. The last time they won at least 50 was almost three decades ago.

The current Charlotte Hornets is not the same franchise as the old Charlotte Hornets. How can I put it? The former Charlotte Hornets (the franchise that had Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, Gen Rice, Baron Davis, Jamal Mashburn) moved in 2003 to New Orleans, they were the New Orleans Hornets until 2012 or 2013 when they re-named the franchise New Orleans Pelicans. On the other hand, the current Charlotte Hornets were an expansion team called Charlotte Bobcats who started out in the 2004-2005 season, with Emeka Okafor winning the rookie of the year trophy. They were called Bobcats until 2012 or 2013, when they became the Charlotte Hornets. It can get a bit messy.

Anyway, I guess you are referring to the current Charlotte Hornets. Yes, they are quite a bad franchise, they haven't been near contenders in their 20 years of existence. I think they don't have the glamour to attract top FAs and they have been unable to upgrade the team through the draft due to bad choices (Adam Morrison, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeff Mullins, etc.). I wonder who is their General Manager?:oldlol:

I don't think the Wolves are a bad organization, TBH. They made the Joe Smith-signing mistake, which left them without first-round draft picks for 5 years, and that was a big error, yes. However, I think you have done pretty good. You just had the time between KG-era and KAT-era when you couldn't get a break, but that was the consequence of being in a very tough conference. We are taking about Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, etc. They have been in a weak conference, you have to do really bad to be irrelevant for a long time there.

Glen Taylor is 95% responsible for this organization being trash and thankfully this year he sold and isn't the majority owner anymore. So completely new era for this team going forward.

An organization that hasn't won a playoff series in TWENTY years has done well? What :oldlol:

Yeah, it gets confusing with what happened to this team bt when they were out a bit and relocated somewhere else. But yes, i may be referring to the current one although they still got the records of the original charlotte team rn. And they're a complete joke today because of this carolina-obsessed guy. Should have kept the 'bobcats' name since it sounded a lot more fantastic imo.

If you're bad for a long time it's not just bad luck. Being bad means you should be drafting high and eventually being good again. They finally hit on Ant and made a big trade

I went to their game against the Knicks, I didn't expect much of a game but they surprisingly showed fight, or maybe it was Randle tanking that kept them in it. Seems like a franchise that has always had bad luck. Not that the Knicks have been much better :lol
