Forget the 1950s 60s and 70s. None of us watched the NBA back then. If we're going to start from the 1980s and on, where should Kevin Durant rank as far as all time NBA forwards?

Depends if we count his rings as legit accomplishment or not.

Skill wise he's up there with anyone.

Kevin Durant has the highest floor of anyone I've ever seen.

I can't say for guys before my time, (Baylor, Barry, Havliceck) but Durant should be up there with the all-time greatest forwards like Bird, the Doctor, and LBJ.

Leonard is a wild card with the permanent qualifier: "when healthy."

Guys like Pippen, Wilkins, Anthony and Worthy are a tier below for various reasons.

For casual fans who don't understand why certain teams win and others lose, Durant is at the top.

For fans who understand basketball is about four dimensions: individual offense, individual defense, team defense, team offense - he is not even in the top 50 of Forwards.

In other words, MOST nba fans think he is one of the best. Most fans have a bias for entertainment and amusement.

"Not top 50" is an idiotic opinion. It's fair to say that his championships aren't as meaningful as they would be if he doesn't just up and join a 73 win team but even if you ignore them you are talking about an mvp that got to the Finals. Before the Achilles tear he destroyed his match up on both ends of the floor and I'm not sure when last we saw a team he played 70+ games for that didn't have a winning record. He is one of the best forwards of all time. Just not in the greatest ever conversation.

He's 3rd behind Lebron and Bird if it's just small forwards, or 4th behind Duncan if we're including power forwards.

What's your thoughts on Magic? He was a lamp post individual defender and a passable team defender. The list of players who check all those boxes at a level that's worth talking about is incredibly small.

Higher than Lebron

Durant did a 2peat with full seasons. Something Lebron still has yet to achieve.

Durant may be the most skilled individual of all time... he is atleast in that conversation.

Overall in regards to his NBA resume, I would argue that he underperformed given his skill set.

15-20 all time IMO

agreed on the skill argument. if he has any semblance of leadership he could be in the GOAT discussion, but he doesn't like to lead.

What the **** is this ridiculous comment

Edit: I just realized what you were trying to suggest is he's in the conversation as the most 'dangerous' player of all time. Due to his combination of height and ability to shoot from anywhere.

To say he's the most skilled player of all time, when he has no post moves, isnt a playmaker, isnt defensively exceptional, has a handle that is fine but not 'special'... it would make absolutely no sense to say Kevin Durant is anything near the most skilled player ever.

But I see what you meant now. He's among the most lethal scorers, is what you were trying to say. At first I was like "where the **** did something that retarded come from, to say durant is in the convo of most skilled??" But I get it now.

Third best SF ever after Lebron and Bird in my book. A case can be made for Dr J over KD.

If taking all forwards, then Duncan is definitely ahead and you can make a good case for a few more names like KG, Giannis, Malone etc.

We're talking small forward and power forward....well

1. Lebron
2. Bird
3. Duncan
4. Dr J
(he has zero chance at topping those four)
5. Dirk
6.Pettit
7. Havlicek
8. Baylor

So I would have him with Barkley, Giannis, KG, Barry, and K. Malone. He's got the skills to be behind Lebron and Bird but I can't rank a guy that fails with MVP level talent year after year. If the clippers win with Kwahi than he might fall out of the top 30 for me

I'd take a prime, healthy Kawhi over Durant personally. I think he's more reliable (on the court).

Just off the fact that Kawhi is physically stronger so he generally would hold better against the greater playoff physicality. If we got 2019 Kawhi for like 8-10 years it would have been interesting.

Peak Kawhi has always been better imo

2a/2b with Bird. Durant's actually a better playoff performer out of the two. They're 3a/3b if we're counting power forwards.
