Wemby-san could've had 80 if Sensei Greg wasn't holding him back.

What the actual fukk? :biggums:

1) Players try to game the officials more than ever. They're more interested in gaming the officials than actually playing the game. Joel Embiid. He's super good regardless, which is why he's so frustrating.

2) Players are more skilled at shooting threes than ever. This opens up the floor for easier individual scoring.

3) Perimeter defense rules have become far tighter over the years, which amplifies point #2.

Anyone actually think KAT or Joel are better scorers than let's say, Shaq? This is why comparing players across eras is so difficult and ultimately so meaningless.

I'm long off that bandwagon. None of the numbers today are worth comparing with a decade alone, let alone when Shaq played or further back.

I literally forgot that Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard scored 70 too.

Man we really are in a new era of basketball these last few years. It is REALLY hard for me to compare it to anything before 2020 because everything now is so spaced out and high octane in the regular season. 70 points use to be unheard of, now we have THREE players doing that in the last two years.

What's funny is at the end of the broadcast I was watching, the female reporter says 'Joel Embiid is the first player to score 70 since............Damian Lillard in Feb 2023'. THe way she said it, it was almost like she thought it hadn't been done in years, then she googled and was like oh shit someone did it 11 months ago lol. And KAT looks poised to do it tonight.

Yes because Shaq couldn't shoot.

How are guys like Booker, Donovan Mitchell, now Embiid getting 70 right on. I want 73, or 75. 70 seems to be the mark everyone with big scoring nights can get to.

70 and 62 point games tonight. On the anniversary of Kobe’s 81 point game of all nights.

Utter dominance. See what happens when Embiid stops thinking he is Curry. 70 bomb.

We are witnessing a center avg well over 30ppg. May never see it again. Enjoy it kiddos

40 in the playoffs is way more impressive than 70 in the regular season with a 170 pound 18 year old kid guarding you the whole game

Until Embiid dominates when it matters nothing he does impresses me

40 happens so often in the POs these days that I don't even find that very impressive tbh. Meanwhile, we've only seen a player score 70+ 7 times in the last 45 years, so it's definitely something, and it's very unlikely he ever reaches that mark again.

He just needs to be healthy for the POs. That's the issue. It's not like he's ever really been healthy for it. Durability is the only thing that's standing in the way of true greatness for Joel.

It's nothing to do with health, year in and year our Embiid underperforms in the playoffs
