He's gonna be impossible to guard once he cleans up his shot selection and turnover issues and gains some strength. And he's already god tier on defense. I'm not saying it will happen but I can see him ending up with something crazy like 5 MVPS and 3-4 FMVP (assuming Spurs build well around him) or something like that. And who knows how many DPOYs.

Yeah, he's looking awesome. Playing the center position, playing with Tre Jones (an actual point guard), and attacking the paint. Who knew? (We did.)

If he gets up to 255-260 while maintaining his mobility? Game over. The way he moves and the way his body has responded already to training makes me think he'll have a physical transformation like Giannis. You see the muscle definition/tone already. The deep cuts, the full muscle bellies, the insertion points.

A 7'5" in shoes, better shooting and more skilled Giannis Antetokoumpo. 30+ ppg, 10+ rpg, 5-6+ apg, 3.5+ bpg, 55-60% FG, 80%+ FT, 65%+ TS guy. Scoring title, DPOY, MVP - all at once.

The visual look of his muscles reminds me of Giannis. Great structural quality that indicates an ease of putting on quality mass. It's just a matter of committing to strength and conditioning and building himself up.

Wow.

Since the end of the Sochan experiment and Tre Jones returning as the starting point guard, Victor Wembanyama has been averaging:

24.8 PTS, 9.9 REB, 3.5 AST, 0.8 STL, 3.1 BLK with shooting splits of 51.3/33.3/82.9

An absolutely incredible stretch for the rookie. The Spurs have gone 5-6 in the 11 games since.

Seriously impressive change of direction, coordination, and balance. Even if he were only 6'8".

Wemby right now today is as good AD at any point of his career (outside of the bubble)

Rookie Wemby is = to AD right now. If he never gets any better and peaks as a rookie… never gets better or worse.he is as good as AD right……now…

paolo right now today is = to Julius randle at the peak of his career. Whenever that was

I stand on both statements…..100% FACTS!

I have no horse in the race with either

Edit honestly, he’s really better than ad cause he can actually shoot 3’s.

So he's going to get FMVP this year like Magic did at 20 years old?

Or he's going to be at 85' Jordan level next year at 21 years old?

Right now he's projecting as a potential top 150 player

Not impressed with the move above btw.. pretty basic - dr. j stuff and show me a paint in 1980 that he could iso like that right in the middle of the paint.. imagine those long-ass arms in traffic - impossible, so he would have to be a post player, aka shawn bradley due to frame

damn we really got to watch out for wemby then and yes I could easily see wemby being 85 jordan lvl as early as next year. he's already a top 25-30 player on a team that didnt play a pg for half the year. Show me one guy in 1980 with his handle and skills at his size. hell you cant find one right now either, he's the only one with this combo of skills and athleticism in nba history maybe

what he does wouldn't have been allowed in 1980 just like every other player today so it's not worth arguing. Got to stay healthy which is unlikely at his size sadly

Did Wemby get drafted to the best team in the league like Magic? Did Wemby get to play with the best player in the league immediately?

Rookie Magic wouldn't be winning ANYTHING if he was drafted to this 2024 Spurs team. Besides, that FMVP belongs to Kareem.

he still can't quit me. How pathetic.

The potential Goat will be better than a former project? Really going out on the limb with your projections. Gobert still the best French player until then though

you dont seem to think he's a potential goat however. Yea gobert is the better french player because he's older lol. Just like john havlicek was best player from ohio for 30 years because lebron wasnt in the league yet

He's the best French player because he's been playing at an elite level for a decade. It's earned not just hype.

Sure he's a potential goat but no one his height has ever stayed healthy and dominated. Odds are stacked against the kid unfortunately

going off what we know as of now.

if you had to choose would you draft rudy or wemby?

I can't say I completely agree. Scrubs can put up great numbers on garbage teams, but all time greats can lead a garbage team to wins.

That said spurs have won 10 games this season... 4 games behind the second worst team in the west.

His stats come across good, but are inflated in todays league when teams can score a combined 300pts.

He plays okay but no he is not as good as advertised. He was advertised as having a mature game with all the moves and neither of that is true. Yes, he has a feel for the game and he knows what's happening on the court but his level of maturity... he is 20 and it shows. As for the moves: he is fluid. Doesn't really know his go to moves yet. He was doing a bit of everything which is okay for a rookie but he isn't someonlike Shaq or Duncan when you see in the first 10-20 games what you got. Wemby is a process with a very high ceiling. Which is perfectly fine for a rookie. As good as advertised though? Clearly not. He was advertised as someone changing the game as soon as he sets foot on an NBA court. That absolutely didn't happen.

I think it is a good thing though. He will be MUCH improved by next season. He is not a finished product and it isn't about just his physique that's 'not there yet'. He is a very good prospect, perhaps the greatest prospect in the last 20 years (and that's a big thing as we have Giannis, Jokic and Embiid in that timeframe). That's as far as I'm willing to go.
