this is an objective demonstration of HOW STACKED THE LAKERS ARE - people are taking the Lakers' yearly overhauls for granted (no other team gets them) and underestimating how stacked with talent they have become
Normal teams like the Nuggets or Bucks build their team by improving chemistry and possibly having some occasional player changes.. Only the Lakers got overhauls every year like the historic coup to get AD that turned the Lakers from lottery to champion in 2020, or adding multiple top 75 players in 2022, or the complete overhaul at the trade deadline in 2023 that netted a sweet-shooting, all-star point guard to save Lebron from the his bad fit with Westbrook..
Only the Lebron gets complete overhauls that yield league favorites, as the Lakers were favored in 2020, 2021 preseason, and heading into the 2023 playoffs and series vs Nuggets.

He didn't defeat max defensive attention (carry scoring load) - he isn't capable of doing so against top teams - he never beat a top 5 SRS team or Finals team with weak scoring & efficiency from sidekick (zero carry-jobs in 20 years).. In this game, he needed numerous teammates to get about 30 points and nearly match him like AD, D-Lo or Reaves.
Btw, the game would never have gone to double overtime except Lebron turned into an 8 turnover per game player in the 4th quarter and OT (3 turnovers) - this is similar to his "original choke" from the critical Game 4 that swung the 2009 ECF - he became a 28-turnover per game player in the 4th quarter and OT (7 turnovers).. This was his original choke, followed by the 2010 meltdown and goat choke in 2011 Finals.. He nearly had another historic choke in the 2013 Finals (23 on 43% thru 6 games) but Ray Allen saved his career and made his resume a fugazi (teammate bailout-oriented)
And timestamp his best move or pull-up for me in that video that you posted (no step-backs) - I bet it basically isn't a move and just a stiff-arm

Lebron...... 36 pts
AD............ 29 pts
D-Lo......... 28 pts
^^^ Lebron needs teammates that can match his scoring because he cannot defeat max defensive attention (cannot carry scoring load)
That's why he couldn't win with 18 on 38% from Mo in 2009 ECF - Lebron's 38 ppg was too ball-dominant to carry the scoring distribution and brand of ball against top teams, so he needs franchise players that can match his scoring for entire playoff runs and adequately offset his brand of ball.. Wade, Kyrie and AD all matched or led Lebron in scoring for entire playoff runs and all were considered "franchise players" during their career.. this is the caliber of help that frontcourt ball-dominance (the worst kind of ball-dominance) needs and it still yields perennial underdogs/losers and the neediest teams in history

Bison Dele the year before he got to Chicago: 16/8.
Harper before he got to Chicago: 20 ppg.
And MJ already had Pippen, Rodman, and Kukoc as hall of famers.

Harper was a 6 ppg player before MJ returned in 1995
so the Bulls were stuck with only 1 real scorer from 96-98' because Pippen had the worst efficiency that anyone ever had in those playoffs and only averaged 17 on 41% for the entire 96-98' Playoffs as a transition player
Kukoc was 2nd on the Bulls in 4th quarter scoring for the entire 98' Playoffs - that's how easy it was to supplant Pippen as 2nd option - he was only a 2nd option alongside the goat scorer, otherwise he was 3rd to 6th option on other teams.. anybody could've replaced pip as 2nd option and it's amazing that MJ could drag a historic bricklayer and choker to many titles like that.

Lakers are absolutely loaded, no question about it. There's no excuse whatsoever for them being a .500 team. Massive underachievement.

Here's an objective demonstration that tears apart your argument in seconds.
If Wood was so great, why did no other team sign him? He was a freeagent for a long time and one of the last players to get signed. He ended up signing for a veterans minimum for 1 season, one of the worst type of NBA contracts. 29 teams passed up on him. Why is that?

essentially, the media only covers Lebron in the way that they only clamor for trades for Lebron.. You don't see them begging to get Curry, Jokic or Giannis help or speculating on which GM's can help them out.. Only Lebron gets this kind of treatment, so naturally, he's the only guy that gets his entire roster revamped every year like 2023, or he's the only guy that gets a historic coup to get an opposing franchise player (AD), or he's the only guy that gets multiple top 75 guys in 2022 and then gets to discard them in the 2023 overhaul that saved the team.. only 1 guy gets covered or treated like this by media and opposing GM's.

No one else tried to get AD, Westbrook, Woods and a BEVY of other guys... :sleeping
it's because all these guys are reserved for Lebron.
so it's a rigged league for Lebron where the media ONLY clamors to get Lebron trades, while Curry, Giannis and Jokic are expected to win with organic chemistry and less talent.
I'm amazed that other stars don't complain about how the media only clamors to get Lebron more help all year, but don't clamor to get Curry or Jokic help.. Since the media only covers Lebron and only clamors to get him more help, he's the only guy that gets entire roster overhauls yearly such as the AD heist, or the "top 75 experiment" with Westbrook/Lebron/AD/Melo/Dwight, and last year's team overhaul at the trade deadline.. Only Lebron gets new teams every year because the media creates a massive narrative each year that Lebron needs more help, so the league complies and follows orders.
This isn't some opinion - it's literally what happened - it's called the historical record.. there are dates associated with all those transactions mentioned above, while no other player got historic heists of opposing franchise players and entire roster overhauls every year.. Only Lebron enjoys this, due largely to the media essentially pulling strings for him and being his microphone.

Wood didn't want that 1yr veterans minimum so he held out until close to training camp with his agents trying to ramp up interest. Something like 2 teams offered him veterans minimum then he ended up signing with the Lakers because it was the best of his options. Nobody offered him anything better from across the entire NBA. It has nothing to do with LeBron.

And then after this season he'll likely sign for just a sliver higher than the vet minimum some where for probably the tax payer MLE and will be forgotten about back to producing mostly empty stats.
He's just your average scoring black hole big. Montrezl Harrell reincarnate (similarly almost out of the league).

Why didn't the league rig to have the Lakers draft Jaquez Jr. and not waste their MLE on Vincent?
