The Celtics made a nice little move for Xavier Tillman. They needed another strong forward to throw at Giannis for when Horford needs a breather. You don't really want to have to turn to Tatum to guard Antetokunmpo for more than a few possessions, you don't want your star in foul trouble. So based on that I would say that everyone should be happy with the trade deadline.

Something to keep in mind: the Mavericks owe their 2029 first-round pick to the Nets. Why does that matter? Because it means the top-2 protected pick Dallas is sending Charlotte in 2027 can't roll over from one year to the next. Basically, what that means is that if the Mavericks pick first or second in 2027, the Hornets don't get a first-round pick. The Lakers used a similar maneuver with the Jazz last season in the Russell Westbrook trade, only that pick was top-four protected.

In fact I believe the league even released a study recently showing no correlation between load management and injury prevention.

Kyrie will be hurt so I wouldnt worry too much about that aspect.

The big issue is they brought Widdie off the bench during their Conf Finals year, which was optimal to stagger him and Luka as ballhandlers. The next year when Brunson left they put Widdie in the starting lineup, which I called a mistake from Day 1, and predictably the chemistry was off from the start.

If they use him as a sixth man then it could make some sense to get him back. If he's not trying to be a sixth man they should skip it.

I was impressed with how Bojan guarded Luka in the playoffs a couple years ago, even though he couldnt stop him because Luka was hitting super high difficulty shots, he was still very physical and tenacious and put a good deal of pressure on him.

I imagine Bojan's main defensive weakness is rotational quickness, but he doesnt seem to have a problem being thrown on a big wing like Jimmy Butler, maybe even Giannis and just holding his ground and making it harder for them to do what they do. There's definitely some potential value to that for NYK in the playoffs.

But I know. The Jazz's repeated playoff failures were everyone else's fault but Toody, and everyone sucked but him.
