Kobe knew he was better. LeBron was the one always jealous and chasing him. Kobe even said one on one he would beat him. LeBron quickly dodged that statement and said you’ll never see it. At one point, LeBron admitted Kobe was better than him. Even though he had certain stats and personal percentages on his side, he didn’t feel confident.

Kobe was secure and knew he was better. LeBron never had that confidence. You give truth serum and he would not be able to say he thought he was better. With Kobe there’s not a doubt in his mind.

No wonder LeBron didn’t attend his statue ceremony. He was always jealous.

His intention is to avoid bringing the distraction and fanfare Lebron's presence inevitably causes to Kobe's memorial. It is not appropriate for random people to be coming up to Lebron asking for pictures and autographs at an event meant to remember Bean.
