That’s why the nba removed the dunk contest after the 1997 nba dunk contest, and was replaced by a 2 ball competition in 1998. They brought it back in 2000. Vince Carter revived it. Back then it was the worst dunk contest. I think 2022 and 2023 surpassed it.

If they cancel the Dunk contest, i will miss the annual "Jump over Shaq"-Dunk, which now comes even twice in a Contest.

(That was sarcastic)

The first NBA dunk contest (during the All-Star weekend) happened in 1984. 14 straight seasons. 98 and 99 was out due to lock-Out.

It's been going for 25 straight years. It's not going anywhere.

GOAT? What a narrative driven, inclusive, let's let everyone win, shit show that was. NBA knew Dominique was a nice guy, company man. Stepped aside not once, but twice for their bullshit.
