Does that do anything for you?
I’m not saying it should or it shouldn’t. I’m saying, I feel like his game is the type to illicit no reaction from most younger fans. Is anything happening there that so much as raises an eyebrow?
He was a much bigger deal than you would believe for a while, only because of how much college basketball used to matter. It would bleed over and you would stay a star in the NBA for a while. He was one of those guys.
I’m not gonna ask you the typical questions. What he would be now or would you take him over such and such. I don’t really care about that.
I’m just wondering if that person means anything to you at all. I’m sure you know who he is. But when you hear the name do you even have any positive or negative feelings? I feel like you “nothing” Glenn Robinson. Am I wrong about that?

The comparisons Melo always got feel spot on. Right down to the bleed-over-college-hype.
I respect the skill but in today's NBA those tough long-two pullups just dont help you keep pace with 120 point nightly averages. It's a nice tool to have in the bag to get a basket in a tight spot, but if you cant dominate in other ways throughout the game how much can you really help a team? Offenses just arent built around jab step 17 footers anymore.
So to answer your question, yes my reaction to him is basically "meh."

I liked Big Dog. I probably thought he was better than he really was because he got hyped big time from college

DeRozan is a borderline future Hall of famer with a midrange game in the current NBA.

A curious number of “Score at will” guys shoot about 44-47 percent. I assume it’s because that kinda thing is usually reserved for pull-up specialists who are indeed hard to deny a shot they’re comfortable with but also tend to take like 20 shots to score a little over 20 points.
Real useful when you have 6 seconds left though. Shot clock or game.

People tend to forget when those guys have bad games and focus on the good ones. Rarely you get uber consistent guys who play like that, but obviously MJ was. And more recently KD and Kawhi. Most recently, SGA.

One of my favorite players. That 90s trio of SFs were my shit, Mashburn and Grant Hill.

Good player but the main thing I remember about his career is McGrady calling him "Puppy Dog."

Living in Chicago at the time I remember being "concerned" when he came out of college and joined the Bucks. He was amazing at Perdue. He didn't have quite the same impact in the NBA. He was really good, he never got to great.

I loved the 90's, but it's hard to watch the games nowadays. The all-stars/superstars were always great, but it's the 4 to 5 no jump shot role players on the court crowding the lanes that make me cringe. Shit even the all-stars/superstars in the mid-90's who still couldn't take advantage of the SHORTENED 3 point line make me cringe too.
Seriously, how hard was it to take TWO steps back and shoot the 3 instead? They didn't need to launch them like teams do now, but damn it's such common sense to take SOME threes over the long twos. It's also common sense to space the floor, but so many role players and bigs back then literally couldn't shoot anything past 10 feet.
There is some bias involved, but I will always consider the NBA from 2006 up to 2016 or so as the best ERA of ball. Teams had the right mix of offensive shots/schemes while also having real impact on defense.

Wasn't all on the players. Sloan for one hated the 3 ball. When you don't grow up playing with a 3 point line you play a different game. I didn't see one until I was in high school I think. Maybe my junior year

Almost everybody in the NBA then or now could make a three. Biggs would be making them in shoot around before games if you got there early. You mentioned stars not taking advantage of even the shortened three. It isn’t because they couldn’t. It’s because they didn’t see a reason to do it. I personally watched Tree Rollins hit every jumper he took when he was old in the 90s ****ing around. And he wasn’t anything like a shooter.
Guys like Chris Mullin would go whole seasons and make 50 threes. Sure wasn’t a skill issue. It’s a style of play issue. And if nobody is doing it there is no disadvantage to playing that way.
The toe on the lines twos are annoying in retrospect but it’s only a problem if the other team isn’t doing the same thing.

I'm still trying to figure out how those Bucks lost to Philly in the '01 ECF. They were the better team and would have provided a much more competitive Finals against LA.

As someone has already mentioned, the Sixers had great defense, and they wanted it more. I mean, Eric Snow was playing injured and scored 20 points in game 5, and the Sixers overall were a more cohesive team. The Bucks didn't have heart, which we saw the following year when they went number 1 in the East to the all-star break and missed the play-offs altogether.
Going to Glenn Robinson, he was a really good scorer, but I was surprised how soon he retired from the league, he was 31 or something like that.

What was the reason Glenn was taken before Grant Hill in the draft?
