Best player/s gets decided in the playoffs, not that I’m anticipating Shai to have any problems. I dont know that itll bear him out as THE best player but I dont expect much dropoff.

But as far as this year’s regular season MVP… he’s certainly got a good claim. Not unreasonable to call him the favorite at this point.

I hear that Joker guy is pretty good.

You guys praise Jordan so much. SGA is having the same type.of season. Stop the BS

I'm a huge fan of SGA, and I wouldn't mind seeing him get the MVP nod....

But he's not the clear-cut best player in the league. Top 5 for sure though.

No one has to praise him like he's Michael Jordan though. He's not on that level. Hasn't really proven anything.

Good player, good season and good for him. Even if he wins MVP most people will still tell you Jokic is better. When I see Shai it often looks like he's trying his hardest (nothing wrong with that obviously) whereas Jokic looks like he's out there toying with the league half the time while putting up ridiculous numbers and being clutch as hell when he has to.

Jokic can't win without Jamal Murray.

Shai is leading a bunch of kids and he plays defense. Jokic doesn't. I don't care about Stats.

OKC are winning the season series vs Nuggets.

Also Nuggets are 4th in the West. What the fk is Jokic doing at #1 MVP? It's absolutely bullshit

Hard to dispute. Impacting both sides of the game. Second best scorer on the team is Jalen Williams. He's doing a lot with a little.

Well some advanced metrics like EPM point to him being the most impactful player in the NBA (now that Embiid is out) with Luka coming in 2nd.

SGA might get the #1 seed with a rookie as his best teammate and with some decent role players around him. Crazy considering the amount of talent that's in the WC. He's definitely having a prime MJ/Kobe/Wade-level season as a guard. Obviously the league is different now so we can't really argue that he's actually as good or whatever, but he deserves his respect. His numbers are great/elite from all around the floor too, whether you look at his paint scoring, his mid-range, or his 3s.

His #2 is a rookie, his #3 is a 2nd-year player. 0 all-star teammates. Third youngest team in the league. I think there's an argument to be made that he's been better than Jokic this RS.

No one is NOT giving SGH his respect. No one even says anything bad about him. Yeah stats cool...

Gonna be amazing to witness Jokic show him who's actually him in the WCF though (if OKC make it that far) :applause:

Let's see how good he is...Bookmark it...

Jokic > SGA

SGA would win MVP in a lot of seasons with the year he's having. The problem is that Jokic has been ramping it up lately. In his last game he had 32/16/16 with 4 steals, absolutely absurd.

Is this really what we’re doing right now?

Watching them play, Jokic is much better. MVP is not about the best player though so I can accept SGA winning it. I think he will not. Voters will try and compensate for last year and SGA is simply not a big enough name and his 'story' is not good enough either yet. However, if he wins it I'm fine. He is definitely worth of MVP consideration. Not a better player than Jokic though. The Joker's defense is greatly improved and he is just too much of an everything on offense.

I can see SGA winning MVP, but he isn't better than Jokic. Joker and cp3 are the only players I've ever watched where there are long, serious stretches where I can't even nitpick any of their decision-making because they're playing perfect games.

Jokic > SGA

This year it's debatable. Both play different positions. It's not the same type of play. SGA is a far better scorer and defender than Jokic.

Why? One of the youngest teams in the league and a .500 team last year as the 1 seed in the West.

That's a pretty strong story..

It's good enough for me but I doubt it sells. If it does, good for him. I have nothing against Shai. I think he is a year or to away are OKC. But we will see.

He is not a better scorer. He does score more points per game on average, yes. But Jokic is not really looking to score. When he does it is really hard stopping him. He could easily score 6 more points a game if he wanted. As for defense, it has changed in the last two years. I doubt you watch many Nuggets games.

You realize that Joker is 13th in the league right now in number of steals. He perpetually leads the league in deflections and kicked balls. His defensive rating is better than Shia’s. Defensive rebounding is a key part of defense, and he’s the second best in the league at that. His presence in the lane deters/shuts down many penetrations. And if you watched the other night, you would have seen that Golden State is no longer regularly putting him into pick and roll. The complaint that he is a terrible defender only comes now from people who don’t watch the Nuggets.

On another point, I agree that the Nuggets won’t win without Murray. On the flip side, OKC simply won’t win. So that’s a really bad standard to judge people by. (Jordan won’t win without Pippen; Kobe won’t win without Shaq or Gasol; Magic won’t win without Kareem and Worthy, etc…). It’s a team game.

Shai might deserve MVP this year. But he’s not better than Joker. Ask yourself this: Denver calls OKC right now and asks for a straight up trade. First, it’s unimaginable. Second, OKC would take the trade immediately.
