Funny thing is he was actually in the league with like 8 of them. One of them was on the 07 Cavs. They were just worse when he got there because they were old…so he played worse versions of these guys. There is so much era overlap it’s usually a foolish road to go down unless theres a difference of decades.

Yeah, that kind of handcheck was already not allowed in the 90s, I'd definitely call that even playing pickup games if someone did it.
That kind of handcheck was what made guards dribble up with their back to basket from their own basket.
The kind of handcheck, that I would allow is not this, but the "forearm check" that was still allowed in the 90s. That is, using your forearm to more or less gently, keep contact with the driving player.
Look at how Pippen guards fullcourt pressure here and how he uses his forearm to stay close to the defender, applying force, keeping a tab on the defender:

That is the kind of defense we need to allow once again.
