For Wiseman. I’m not gonna be over the top critical because they needed a big and he was the top prospect in that class at one point. So I won’t compare it to when Memphis took Thabeet over all those stars(Steph, Harden, Demar and like 3-4 other all stars). Memphis already had Marc Gasol, Randolph, and Darko and Thabeet was most famous for being hip tossed out of a rebound by a guy who had no acls. So it wasn’t THAT dumb. But you hate to see the dynasty get a shot to maybe extend it a bit and **** it up. Takes a fanbase from the penthouse to the outhouse when the old guys are gone.
Not Boston bad with Bias and Reggie Lewis dying instead of carrying them in the 90s but….bad.
They would be halfway to set for the future with a couple of those guys.

Only Bane would've worked well with that system, but no one thought he'd be as good as he is.

It isn't really fair to bring up Haliburton or Maxey. That is just hindsight. Nobody was talking about them top 5.
It is fair to bring up Lamelo who they surely would have picked if they passed on Wiseman.

Scouts have a hard on for big guys who are mobile and athletic but have no skill. Jokic went in the 2nd round case in point. Bowie over MJ. etc.

another guy sitting on the sidelines with chronic injuries doesn't help either

Bowie had plenty of skill he just didn't have the feet to keep him upright

True.
Maybe it's also a case of drafting need over talent. Warriors needed a center not another guard. But if fantasy football taught me anything talent is always worth more. If you stock up on one position and they all hit you can always make a trade.

Just talking available picks. I’m not worried about where they actually went. The point of the high pick is knowing you can evaluate everyone and take who you want. Sometimes you reach like with Bennett sometimes you reach and get a star nobody saw. They ****ed it up. Like I said I’m not over the top critical on it. He and LaMelo were the guys I knew the most about at the time, and it made sense positionally.
But the weird circumstances that lead great teams to have top picks late in the run of their stars it’s just such an opportunity to bridge the gap. Those fans are probably gonna have some hard times.
One of these guys should’ve been What Kawai was supposed to be to the Spurs. And they lost that too. The down times are near inevitable it seems.

Hindsight is 20/20.
Yet he was the only guy lucky enough to be with a team that won a ring just in his second season rt, ofc only after klay came back to play again since 2019.

I don't think any of those guys would have been a great fit TBH, but at least they could have used them in a trade to improve their roster tenfold like the Kings did when they moved on from Hali.
I get that all of them are significantly better than Wiseman & the Warriors were stupid for drafting for fit for need instead of taking the best player available.

Yeah, and even then Bane essentially would have been in the Klay role, and it looks like GS is not ready to move on from Klay. Also, they had Poole developing on the bench, who showed flashes in that '19-'20 season, so they already had a young guard with promising talent. Their decision made a whole lot of sense at the time and they did not have the benefit of hindsight.
