Byron Scott was a major contributor for 3 titles. Lakers might've gotten a threepeat if not for his injury just before the 1989 Finals.

Yet I seldom see his name mentioned. It's always Magic, Kareem, Worthy. With Cooper thrown in once in a while.

Interesting.

That was a 62-20 team too (which won the ring that year); to lead that team in scoring with Magic and Worthy on the team is impressive. Shot at a higher % than them as well (EFG).

Was outshone in the finals by those two, though he held his own:

Always thought of Scott as a role player; but its clear he played a bigger role than most of us thought. Terrible coach though.

Just seen Michael Cooper won DPOY as a bench player. Interesting.

He was a big part of it too. Big 3rd guard that could play both guard positions and the 3. Shoot and defend. They were loaded. Worthy top 75 all time :lol
