View Full Version : Should we annex nations we give money to if they don't shape up within 5-10 years?

I pose this question in the wake of the Haitian unrest that's currently taking place which is now resulting in a wave of Haitian migrants headed to Florida.
It doesn't sound like that crazy of an idea. It's our money. The country has failed to use it properly and modernize themselves, so the United States should have a logical claim to the land, right? If my count is correct, we've also been giving Ukraine billions for over 2 years now and only more and more Ukrainians are dying as a result. That's blood money. Ukraine has 3 more years by my count to either defeat Russia or to lose. If they cannot defeat Russia in 3 years, we take over Ukraine and the war is over.
While I know that may not sound like a realistic result and of course Russia would perceive that as a serious threat to annex the Ukraine and make it U.S. territory, the former still applies and seems more reasonable for countries like Haiti and whatever other shithole country we give money to that still can't get their act together.
Who disagrees?

Yeah this is not a joke. Annexation only provides stability in my opinion. Imagine the economic increase globally. Political and civil unrest has always been a detriment to world peace and global modernization. Our money goes to waste when these countries do nothing with it to advance themselves. It’s time we take our investment back.

You think it's a good idea to commit war crimes and create another expensive debt-exploding mess like we had in Iraq and Afghanistan. Noted.

What war crimes? What are you talking about?
You strike a deal with said nation that if they do not improve fiscally, economically, etc, that said nation then becomes part of the United States. No blood has to be shed. No one is talking about an invasion. It's merely a deal to annex said nation if our money that we have been sending them over the years is not used correctly and proves to do nothing in improving said nation. I mean, what's the alternative? We keep giving money to Haiti and more and more Haitians are slaughtered and more and more Haitians just migrate to the United States anyway? All these nations we give money too, billions of dollars in fact, all seem to continue to be unstable after all these years. So what has our money done? Not a goddamn thing. It's time we start putting our money to good use. You don't think people in Haiti or other impoverished nations wouldn't love to be under American rule?? They would welcome it with open arms like the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Oh so you just want to have a handshake agreement where we annex a whole country. I'm sure that will be simple. Ok.

You sound very naive to global politics and how peace treaties are done between nations. This would be the same thing. I'm sure there will be a handshake or two involved, but I'm pretty sure it would be a bit more sophisticated than that.

You talk about annexing a country with a lot of problems (problems you wouldn't begin to understand) and then turn around and say that I'm naive. Ok, I'm going to point out just one example of why you're a fool, an example that should appeal to a racist ass like yourself. You don't like it when we spend a lot of money to support immigrants, correct? Well when we annex Haiti we give all of those Haitians a new level of rights, possibly we even end up making them citizens depending on what the agreement is. We now become responsible for all of them. Haiti gets wrecked by hurricanes just about every year. Guess who gets to take care of them?
It's a funny thing. I'm not sure at all how Haitians would feel about it. Would they settle for being a protectorate with no rights? If this impossible hypothetical went down and the people were consulted (it's not a given that they would be consulted) my guess is they would at the least want full citizenship. And we do a lot for our citizens when their lives are wrecked by things like hurricanes. My guess is that over half of them are being set up in hotels in South Florida within a year...ooh, but Ron DeSantis would then get involved. Good chance we have to ship them all over the country...
I don't blame you for not thinking this through. Generally the less you try to think, the better. But this is one of the dumber debates I've engaged in on this forum.

Nothing of what you just said makes sense. We are responsible for the citizens of all 50 states including Puerto Rico and other territories. So what's the difference with Haiti? If Haiti becomes part of the United States, then developers and government agencies begin to take residence in there improving that impoverished country overnight. What do hurricanes have to do with anything? Our money is being wasted when we send billions to these countries only for warlords and criminals to take it and leave the common citizen in the same place they were in before we sent the money. Explain to me how sending billions and billions over 30-40 years makes any sense to you.
Who says Haitians would have no rights? They would be protected under the U.S. Constitution because they are now U.S. Citizens.
You're not even giving me exact reasons as to why this would be a bad idea. You're just hurling your pathetic insults because you can't help yourself, violin boy.

You’re literally saying that we shouldn’t annex Haiti cause of hurricanes? Do you know how many states deal with hurricanes every year? A few.
Your reasoning against annexation is so stupid :oldlol:. But you’re a stupid guy through and through so I understand where it comes from.

Your lack of intelligence is your problem, not mine. The hurricanes are really just one reason and you clearly don't comprehend why that's a problem, especially if you don't understand that dealing with hurricane damage in areas we already control is actually a problem. The state of Louisiana may well be under water in my lifetime.

Well no....what you are proposing creates an Algeria situation where you are a taking a country and letting it's people into your country and they will want to try to kill you.
Also do you give them rights...do you think the people in power want to spread it out even more. Let's check in with Samoa, PR, Washington DC and Guam

What’s up with conservatives (the small government people) wanting to expand and increase the size of the government through colonialism out one side of their mouth, and then wanting a civil war breaking up America out the other. Lmao.

I thought about this, but then I also realized that if you turn Haiti into an American state with all the resources, businesses, schools, parks, etc, then there should be no reason for Haitians to continue to migrate. Think of Haiti as Puerto Rico. You go to Puerto Rico and it's just like being in an American city. And as far as the Rights are concerned, they are the same Rights as the U.S. Constitution. The learning curve for Haitians might take a little while, and that's where the most important thing of this annexation idea would be business and economy. A flourishing economy is the safest and most effective way to create a vibrant, safe, and productive society. Imagine putting a Tesla plant in Haiti. Or a few Amazon distribution centers. Open up some Chick-Fil-A's and some Taco Bells and the rest is history.
