SGA over Doncic.
This whole system needs to a revamp.
The racism is insane.
These people vote on bias/emotion only.

The 30/6/6 54% shooting steals leader on a top team being second(to a white number one) doesn’t require racism. If Jokic is the winner you think they just got racist deciding number two? Trying to do what? Deny Luka a runner up spot?
If the Mavs were the first or second seed, while Luka did his numbers, he would obviously win or be second. It doesn’t take a deep dive. Giannis doing 31/12/7 on 62% on a team with a better record than Dallas.
Dont see anyone worked up about it.
Two or three people a season(at least) do previously unheard of numbers. You do it and win you’re gonna get voted for. At least when someone else isn’t doing it and winning more.
A lot of years Tatum would have just been slotted in by default.

Stop with your blanket takes.
SGA over Doncic is racism.

You wanna ignore all historical trends showing you how the voting goes because one or two times a generation they give it to a fifth seed you do that. Feels like you’re being more biased and emotional than youre accusing them of being though. You can’t look at the history of the award and just assume you’re gonna win it on the fifth seed with great numbers when everybody in question has great numbers and the two people ahead of you are the top two seeds in your conference at the time of the vote.
It’s playing out the way it almost always plays out.

If this is actually an accurate poll of the way the voters intend to vote, I'm pretty surprised it's 85-10 for Jokic over SGA in first place votes.
While I do believe Jokic IS clearly the best player in the league right now after Lebron, in terms of this year's regular season MVP race I expected SGA to garner a somewhat bigger portion of the votes, just based on the fact he's been in the conversation as a front runner all year and never really had anything specific happen that would cause him to suddenly fall behind. Also just based on general discussion on ISH and in the limited amount of media I've seen it discussed in, it seemed like public sentiment was closer to a split.
On the one hand it's sort of weird, because altho Jokic is the best player, he clearly would defer to his teammates for entire games sometimes pre all-star break, and would finish the game with like 7 shots or whatever. The Nuggets in general kinda played on auto-pilot until the break, and somehow they're still in first in the West just because theyre such a well oiled machine. I think Jokic almost consciously did everything he could reasonably do without harming his team to NOT win the award :lol And yet here he is.
I also think this is good for the Thunder. SGA went into a bit of a mini slump the last few games before sitting their most recent games with soreness, and I have a feeling he might have been pressing a little bit to keep MVP pace. If he'd won MVP this year I think he might feel some pressure in the playoffs to try and justify that, and that might not be the best thing for his team overall. If anything the Thunder can collectively turn this 'slight' into momentum.

This isn't news to anyone paying attention. Like I've been harping on for the last couple weeks, Vegas has insiders and knows info we do not. When they made Jokic a massive massive favorite to win the award at -1200 it was going to take a meltdown from him and the Nuggets to reverse their Intel.
It's -2000 now. It's been over. Jokic isn't gonna all of a sudden go be a 15/10 player for the remainder of the year while Denver goes winless.

You sound a bit defensive here. There's a lot of racism/liberal thinking within media members who vote mvp. It's the reason jokic isn't winning 4 straight this year. Racism robbed him of history.

Lol.
This is not how Vegas works. They are not trying to predict the result. They are trying to induce wagers.
If everyone ran to the bookmaker right now and placed bets on SGA, do you think Vegas would keep giving him longshot odds? So that if he does somehow win, even tho Vegas is sure he wont, the sports books will all be bankrupted for no reason?? What do they gain from giving a thousand people a juicy payout on SGA when they could offer a lower one? Bragging rights?
Theres a reason the line moves when the public bets heavy a certain way. Vegas isnt trying to bet against the public, theyre trying to entice the public to bet against each other and take a house cut.
Naturally as the public gains more confidence in Jokic winning the books will reduce the potential payout. Thats not because the books think he’ll win, it’s because the bettors think he will.

He’s about to win his third MVP and he is one of the few they made the exception for because they gave him one of them while his team had the 10th best record. He actually got an MVP 12 games back from first. It’s no more racist that they spread them around now than when they always have.
The people with previously incomprehensible numbers and styles don’t just win every year. People stop caring about shit like that and he’s not even the best example of it. Wilt won MVP as a rookie then they just pretended he didn’t exist for like six years of being better than he was as a rookie.
Everybody who hits an “I can’t believe this guy….” level has the shine wear off even as they improve.
Giannis won two MVP’s with the best record and “What are thoooose!?!” numbers. Then he actually improved himself and won the title. Next time he had the best record he had even better numbers but got third in voting.
Thats how it goes. It isn’t consistent for anyone. Jokic has…if anything…been less disregarded than a lot of people in his position. He’s won a greater percentage of the MVPs he should than some others. He won’t be the first who arguably could have eight, who ends up with way less. I don’t even think he’ll be the fifth.

If Embiid had stayed healthy he almost certainly would have won, and justifiably so. When he’s right he is a legit regular season FORCE on both ends.
But, the best ability is availability.
I dont think he wanted back to back MVPs anyway tho. Puts an even brighter spotlight on him this postseason. I think things worked out the way he hoped…

If we take a step back and observe:
Jokic 3
Giannis 2
Embiid 1
after this season, I think we can say it represents 'the right order and amount' as far as big men today are concerned. Jokic was better and more deserving last year but 3-2-1 is a better representation I think than 4-2-0. (Yes, I know it doesn't work that way but anyway.)
Jokic is great but 4 in a row is too much even for me. And even if/when he wins his 3rd MVP I'm sure he'll get some criticism if the Nuggets don't repeat. If they do, nobody will have a problem with it because the Joker will be at least top 15 on most ATG lists.
