Is Wemby already better than AD?

Since moving to the center position, Wemby has played 49 games and averaged:

- 29 minutes per game
- 22.0 ppg, 10.9 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.3 spg, 3.8 bpg, 3.6 topg
- 47.5% FG, 34.2% 3PT, 79.0% FT, 57.9% TS

EPM has Wemby 23rd (+4.3) and AD 24th (+4.2).

Better defender? Probably, but I still feel Wemby needs to work on his offensive game more. His shot selection/efficiency at times is kinda bad, but it will get better with age.

Improved strength, shooting stroke, and shot selection should get him to that 60-65% TS range. And better teammates.

AD plays with one of the best passers in NBA history.

Wemby plays with some of the worst PGs in the current NBA.

Take away one easy dunk from Davis a game and add one to Wemby and the difference in TS is gone as far as offense is concerned.

I'd still take Davis for this season going forward. Playoffs are a different animal and Davis is proven.

Yeah he gets a little carried away at times, like he's playing a pick up game with his buddies.

I don't have a problem with it. Makes for some good highlights and over time he should learn that some of this stuff he shouldn't be doing.

I can see it...I think every team in the league would trade AD for Wemby...and you would likely have to add stuff to the trade.

Not yet. His stats are inflated because he's on a bad team and he's 6 or 7th in usage rate which is crazy for a big man rookie. He's horribly inefficient for a 7+ footer. He'll probably be better than AD at some point next year though. Wemby is destined for greatness but the funny thing is AD was better than Wemby at age 20.

I don't think Wemby has earned this kind of comparison. AD is a smarter proven player and his numbers might look more impressive playing for that dog shit team.

Give it another season or two.

he's far from being the best 3 point shooter on his team and he doesn't grab offensive rebound the way AD does. it's like if you ask Wemby to make a dunk, the ball disappears into a black hole.
