And he will have averaged 25 ppg for 20 seasons. That’s insane, that’s literally 2 superstar careers rolled into one.

He's a top 14 scorer right now. That would have been good for about 20.5ppg in the era when he started. And this is basically why these stats are skewed - and probably by no accident as the NBA squeezes every last drop out of his marketability.

So it's another great longevity related achievement, but bolstered no doubt by the NBA pumping up offensive numbers the last decade in addition to all the help mentioned above.

His numbers would have drooped substantially this past decade had the game stayed the same or worse, gone in the other direction of pace as some other players experienced in their careers.

For reference, he's declined to about Corey Maggettes level right now if you go to the 14th best offensive player back in 04. It's actually1 rank below where his own rookie version of himself was.

So, sure on paper he looks as if he never skipped a beat thanks to the NBA boosting the league offenses to all-time highs (more 20ppg scorers per team the past 2 seasons than any 1 season ever including 1962!). The reality is, he's declining as anyone would at his age and the 2nd half of his career numbers need taken with that in context. His ability to keep up with the leagues top scorers has been declining.

That's not how things work. If anything, the ROLE players would be scoring less. Lebron could still pump out the same ppg now if it was 2004, he'd just have to adjust hit shot make up. To be fair though, his TS% would go down slightly.
