View Full Version : Why was Lebron praised for "iverson-ball" (low efficiency chucking, high TO's, no D)?

.
2007 Finals.... 35.8% and 5.8 TO's
2008 ECSF..... 35.8% and 5.4 TO's
2010 ECSF..... 44.7% and 4.5 TO's
2015 Finals.... 39.8% and 3.5 TO's (allowed bench player to win FMVP)

Why is Lebron given praised for his 2015 Finals performance when it was classic Iverson or Westbrook-ball such as low efficiency-chucking, high TO's and no defense - Lebron let a bench player double their normal scoring average and win FMVP..

Why is this classic "iverson-ball" or "westbrook-ball" praised when Lebron does it?

lebron is #1 all-time in turnovers and had a shaky jumper for most of his career, yet he's never put in the Iverson or Westbrook class as turnover-prone bricklayer

It’s funny. I’ve roasted lots of Lebron guys here about lebron shooting allen iverson levels a bunch. In the 2015 finals some people were praising his stats but if you watched the game or looked at his FG%….wow, it was very ugly.

But as you point out it’s strange that Lebron seems to get a pass on this when no one else does.

because you're too busy dedicating your life to be on his team, trying to win the FMVP and come up short.

but I'll let you really know why though

when you've got championship DNA's, you really do just get a pass.

MJ plays Iverson ball...get it right

Low IQ, average passer, low defense chucker = Iverson/MJ ball

Looks like a troll post but that's actually how defenses guarded the 3pt line in the 80s and 90s. Shit is embarrassing.

Due to today's spacing, defenders cannot cover the ground, which is why over 80% of today's threes are either "open" (4-6 feet from closest defender), or "wide open" (6+ feet from closest defender), according to stats.nba.com.

Otoh, great shooters in previous eras like Miller or Dale Ellis had a defender attached to them like white on rice at all times - they had to run off a million screens to get open and didn't have the luxury of waiting at the 3-point line for open kickouts like today's players.. Even Curry shoots 70% of his threes as "open" or "wide open"

Guys like Jordan were also guarded tightly at the 3-point line although sometimes defenders would pick their poison and sag off to protect against the drive - this is standard for any great driver, regardless of how great a shooter they are..
