With the whole Kendrick & Drake beef, this question popped into my head.

It's Ether and it's not close.

It's Ether and it's not close.

Drake needs his Ether moment badly. Jay Z exposed in Takeover that he was sleeping with Nas' baby momma, Nas somehow came back from that and won the battle.

"Ether" became a verb for mudering someone on the internet. Beyond just the substance it's the hardest track ever.

Why is meet the grahams even included? He has an entire verse dedicated to Drakes imaginary daughter that doesn't exist lmao. That track will age horribly. Zero replay value and the punchline is literally fabricated. Neither of Drake or Kendricks disses match up with ANY of eminems disses. He had like 7 or 8 that all go harder than anything either guy has produced.

Just reminds me of how perfect Ems flow was in the early 2000's. Really makes Kendrick look like an amatuer in that regard.

“And I don't even carry guns no more, I don't got to
Got undercover cops that'll legally pop you”

“Me and Hailey dance to your songs we like you”

Oof the tone shifts Em lands on Ja Rule. But I voted No Vaseline this is a close second though

it's easily hit em up. that shit was so cold, so ruthless in intensity and energy going at a whole handful of rappers on the ec. it shocked the industry. too bad it wasn't a pac solo. the outro was just as crazy.

there's also an earlier version of the track that wasn't released.

Bingo. Shit goes hard.

Also, I enjoyed when Jadakiss and Fat Joe were going at it with 50 Cent, Jada dropped Animal, and Joe dropped My Fofo. Both are bangers that I still listen to at the gym.

speaking of nas, here's a couple of old school joints i've been bumping lately that i don't think get proper appreciation for their greatness.

I know Pusha T is mostly known for his diss against Drake, but this diss towards Lil Wayne & Birdman was straight savage.

50 cent claims he is undefeated in rap battles, but he wanted no parts of Jadakiss while he was dropping his disses. 50 immediately went to Jada to squash the beef.

late to the thread but i've gotta go with ether on this one. pac comes hard with hit em up, but the inlawz' verses ruin the song. if it had been a pac solo with three or four verses, it would easily take my #1.

The Outlawz weakened alot of Pac songs, one of the reasons why Pac's last album The Don Killuminati didn't age well for me

Outside of Jay, did anyone else ever really go at Nas? Seems like an objectively stupid thing to do.

2pac dissed Nas on a track in his last album.

He was going to delete the Nas diss after this meeting, but he got shot a few days later.

It is said Pac was listening to Nas' latest album the day he was shot.

I think I made this thread hours before "Not Like Us" got dropped (Or right after it dropped) which turned out to be a huge hit, but I still prefer Meet The Grahams as a diss. The track is so menacing and dark that it's tough to listen to again after you hear it for the first time. It was named best song of 2024 by this famous music critic.

That’s awesome, didn’t know about that.

But it almost helps my point. Even a god-like hip hop figure at the time immediately took it back going as Nas. There’s no reason to because he’s a legend and he’s also gonna say a bunch of shit to you.
