Yeah I mean people gotta relax with comparing Ant Man to MJ.

People forget, the league figured out MJ. Thats why he retired in 93 when he saw ‘Keem had a squad. He let the Bulls stack up again then came back for a quick run while they were back ahead of the talent curve, but once he saw Iverson and Kobe and them boys flooding the league, he knew he had to dip quick. You cant hang in the crossover era with no left hand.

Being “the new MJ” nowadays means youre Derozan, or Westbrook. And thats cool, no hate on them dudes. But if Ant wants to be among the elite by TODAY’S standard? He needs to make people make LEBRON comparisons.

He’s already MJ right now. But he’s not yet Lebron.

3-POINT EFFICIENCY FOR REGULAR SEASON GAMES WHERE MJ HAD 3+ ATTEMPTS:

1985..... 4-18
1986...... 3-6
1987...... 5-22
1988...... 1-3
1989...... 16-49
1990...... 75-187
1991...... 11-30
1992...... 13-39
1993...... 68-185
__________________________
total....... 196-539 (36.4%)

3-POINT EFFICIENCY FOR PLAYOFF SERIES WITH 3+ ATTEMPTS - regular line only (HIGHLIGHTED BELOW):

https://i.makeagif.com/media/10-18-2023/rNUkaK.gif

53-135 (39.2%)

TLDR: From 85-93', Jordan shot 36.4% on threes in games that he had 3+ attempts (539 attempts), and 39% in series with 3+ attempts (regular line only) - aka there's no record of MJ shooting poorly at today's volumes and whenever he had above "bailout" volume (extremely low volume - only bailouts taken)... Since MJ always shot well at today's volumes despite no practice (36-39%), he would be elite in today's game WITH practice (40% or more).

Thread Summary

It's statistical fact that at today's volumes of 3+ attempts, MJ was a better 3-point shooter than Ant and simply took bailout volume most seasons, which deflated his efficiency.

what Ant meant was Jordan didn't get the respect of his coaches or teammates to shoot 3 while others do the dirty work even when he was in the DPOY

Unlike Lebron, who was carried in the category of 3-point shooting by superior-shooting teammates like Korver, Mike Miller, or Pope, Jordan led the Bulls in 3-point attempts and efficiency in the 91-93' Playoffs & Finals (3-peat).

Accordingly, Jordan carried the scoring load and 3-point load, while also averaging more assists than Pippen (RS, PO, Finals) and getting equal or more DPOY votes for 7 of 9 seasons.

so no... and I put carrying the scoring load in the same sentence as the other categories but it truly deserves it's own sentence as the most important category

his team never led in the 3PM category during the 1st 3-peat
