Guys who are tall and not real bulky are generally easier to bully down low. We saw JV do it to Chet. Zubac did it to the Mavs centers. Bam had his way with KP in the post.

On the flipside, Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson famously gave Dirk trouble. Tony Allen was a menace on KD. Actually the guy who makes Jokic work the hardest is Draymond.

If you have strong legs and a lower center of gravity its just better resistance to gettin moved around. The tradeoff is you may not be as good a shot blocker as Chet, Gafford/Lively, Porzingis etc.

So any defender is gonna have a poison to pick. What makes Joker so unstoppable is he has the girth/power of a lot of undersized centers, but hes not undersized, hes still one of the tallest players in the league. And then obviously has moves and touch at the basket. But Toody isnt doing anything ‘wrong’ or playing badly, it’s just Jokic happens to be the worst possible matchup from a body type standpoint.

I mean Xiao deserves the jokes so it’s all good. But getting diced by Jokic doesnt accurately reflect Frooty’s overall defensive capability IMO. It just happens to be an especially bad matchup for him.

Who else has played Jokic even in their careers? Now 20-20 https://www.landofbasketball.com/games_between/rudy_gobert_vs_nikola_jokic.htm#google_vignette

“Played him even” because of the head to head team record

By that measure Im sure theres some scrubs averaging 5 minutes a game who have “played Jokic even” in their careers.

"Who else"? Now wait a minute. This was a friendly, positive thread. Don't go trying to bring it down by doing something crazy like posting Jokic record against Lebron...

Embiid has been winning the matchup. He ducked many games in Denver though. But he can say he could win against him in the postseason. However, he needs to get out of the 2nd round first.

We weren't (for the most part) clowning his defensive effort in game 4...

He actually wasn't too bad in game 5 but didn't really look like defensive player of the year material...Jokic outplayed him. It happens.

No one would even care if the troll wasn't so stubborn. I don't think anyone really has any issues with Gobert apart from him being a bit of a dork and easy target.

He can say he could but we will most likely never know.

You are right on this one. He got cooked a bit but also he got fouls on perimeter mistakes. And a LeBron Stan fav plus/ minus he is one of the best for his team.
I get trolling that dude but the facts dont show that

Rudy’s problem at this point seems to be that it’s a matchup Jokic actually cares about individually destroying. Rudy seems to be the only person he gets the ball against and looks at like he’s going to teach him a lesson. He normally doesn’t seem to care. He’s just out there chilling. He might have a good game, but it’s not because he’s trying to embarrass you.

maybe it’s been personal since that “Brother…I have 47…” moment Rudy was chirping at him while being cooked. One thing is for sure. This is not somebody you want to motivate to take things personal.

it’s like Jordan against Gerald Wilkins after people called him the Jordan stopper. He was a good defender, but Jordan would go out of his way to light him up on general principal. Or like when Hakeem had to watch David Robinson get that MVP. Hakeem shouldn’t even have won the MVP. not that year. He just didn’t want to see him with it.

When a guy like this is setting out to make you look bad you’re going to look bad. He did. He absolutely hunted him. It’s been known to happen. Kevin Willis annoying Kevin Mchale and being destroyed. Ruben Patterson and Kobe at times. Some people are too good to deal with if they look at you and see red.

Jokic sees Rudy check in and its

And that’s dangerous for someone who can essentially do whatever he wants.

Minnesota might actually benefit from playing Reid more just because joker might not see him as food.

Draymond apparently does. He was clowning him hard last night. It was kinda cringeworthy.

Rudy Gobert - 4x DPOY (my very partisan/biased take - while Duncan with 0) - Bill Russell is rolling in his grave.

If someone as mild-mannered as Jokic has a "thing" for Gobert - good for Jokic.

Gobert needs to EARN those DPOYs, and he deserves the criticism.

Every time I have watched Gobert extensively, which is usually the playoffs, I am underwhelmed. Obviously he is a valuable defender, but I never get the impression he is truly a dominant defensive force like say a prime Mutombo. I also feel someone like Chet Holmgren is simply a better rim protector. Gobert doesn't seem to have good reaction speed.
