I didn't know either. Wasn't he calling college games only a month or so ago?
Very sad to hear.

Yea I didn’t know he was sick either.
His tangents were absurd at times but he was such a great personality for the game. All time great.
RIP. We’ll be mimicking “horrible” for the rest of our time.

One of the coolest dudes in sports history. I wish he could have been a full-time nba announcer but his bad back didn't allow it. I am saddened to hear he is no longer with us... Rest in peace, legend..

Jay Bilas:
He loved calling me Jake, pretending to get my name wrong, and nobody loved it more than I did -- that Bill Walton would include me in his wild sense of humor.
On one broadcast with Bill and Dave Pasch, Walton was waxing poetic about former Kansas coach Ted Owens when he paused his soliloquy to say, "Jake, you're too young to know who Ted Owens is!"
"Of course I know Ted Owens," I replied. "He recruited me."
Walton quickly retorted, "For what?!" I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I loved his enthusiasm and love for basketball. His book titled "Back From The Dead" was a good read. I was happy when he was able to have a great season with the 86 Celtics. RIP Bill.

"Death, much like the setting sun, signifies the end of a day's journey. It's a transition, not an end, much like the seasons that come and go. Just as the mighty redwoods eventually fall to nourish the forest floor, our lives contribute to the ever-unfolding tapestry of existence. It's a time to reflect on the beauty and richness of the moments we've lived, the connections we've forged, and the legacy we leave behind. Death is but a passage into another realm, a continuation of the cosmic cycle that binds us all." - Bill Walton

RIP Bill. I have seen some footage from his games and he looked like a really good teamplayer, a center that could get those around him involved on offense.

Ernie closing words on Walton were really nice.
Reggie Miller probably got some subtle side eye from Ernie, for saying :
“That’s a Mic drop, Ernie!”
Bruh STFU, WTF was that

Best passing big man ever.
Best college basketball player there ever was.
Would certainly have been the GOAT of his era if not for injuries.
Considering those injuries, is it any wonder no one lived their life more fully everyday than Bill?
So gonna miss his game broadcasts.
