people talking about they don’t even remember Jordan. Those people are born in like 2004 and 2005. They were 7-8 when Kobe got hurt and never recovered. They don’t remember him either.
Anyway…Durant was heavily represented as usual.

just bc durant can score and occasionally defend, doesn't make him the GOAT. fuccin idiots. he's actually a horrible candidate, way overrated. has always needed a primary playmaker to go anywhere. makes sense why he's unable to win a title without curry.

Those guys didn't even watch Kobe. To be perfectly blunt they didn't even watch prime LeBron with any semblance of understanding as to what they were consuming. It's very likely they are all regurgitating other people's opinions and that's it.
Just because you're an NBA player doesn't mean you know your head from your ass as it pertains to other players. Most of them don't.
YouTube highlights won't cut it, and that's all they have.

As if now I will call them young fans. They are internationals and guys who played a little college. I doubt they would claim to have up close knowledge of most of these people. I’d be surprised if more than one had even met Kevin Durant.
What they think does mirror my personal experience with young players in recent years. I’m surprised none of them said Paul George. Durant and George are the ideal player to a lot of young guys. They are the model.

Maybe they actually watch old games? (I didn't click the link. **** Elon.)

Id be Shocked if they did. I’ve shown high school seniors going to play ball in college Lakers shaq and they had never seen him before. Kids don’t care about anything before them. Not most of them at least.

I'm not even that old, but around 5 years ago I was talking to a teen who lives on my block, we were talking sports and I asked him if he knew who Barry Bonds was and he had no idea. That kinda blew my mind.

Seems many of them don't know or care what a "goat" is. They just say who their favorite players are.
Fair enough cause most of them are not nerds who take these things too seriously.

The attention spans of kids nowadays is so short I doubt they'd even watch a 13 minute highlight video of Michael Jordan or Larry Bird.

These guys were old enough to see the best of Lebron and they still think Jordan/Kobe are better.

I know Durant is a bit of a stretch but who cares? It's a subjective subject and quite frankly it's nice to have new unadulterated eyes being the judge. When I was these kids age Wilt was considered the greatest of all time so it shows how nostalgia greatly diminishes in time.

A friend of mine is the same. He even calls the guys greatest, but his GOATs are all players he emulated his style after.
He has takes like "Kareem can't be top 10, because he can't shoot pull up jumpers".

I doubt they mean GOAT in terms of who the actual greatest player of all time is by any meaningful metric/data points or impact. They are probably rating the "GOAT" based on who their favorite player is.

Of course no one gives a shit about older players going forward.
Shaq turned into snaq by 04/05. That’s around 20 YEARS ago now.
They just know him and Barkley as the funny and mumbley guys on inside.
That’s why letiny will be forgotten long before people here want to admit. He’ll been seen as just a stat whore like wilt basically.. the argument will be he played for like 30 seasons and only won 4 times with asterisks and teams so stacked they could win without him…
