Both number 1 draft picks and rookie of the years.
I mean, yall see the talent (when he wants to.) This guy can do anything on the court, yet chooses not too.

Derrick Coleman was probably the same way.
Coleman was maybe the first stretch power forward who could put the ball on the floor and KAT the greatest big man shooter (his words.)

Didn’t watch Coleman really but did he also play stupidly at times? KAT is really good but bad about making back-breaking stupid mistakes throughout a game.

Coleman wasn't a low IQ player, he just wasn't motivated. Kat has more energy but is low IQ.

Not really tbh. He’s not a good post player.

We assume he is because hes center sized and can shoot from outside, it seems logical he could score from closer in.

But he’s just not a skilled post scorer. His movement is very clunky. He throws down some nice putbacks but hes not deft with the ball in his hands.

Coleman was washed out by his ninth season, KAT has actually passed him in points. Coleman was aslo stuck on terrible teams and sucked into the Philly votex

Coleman was physical. I suppose they are similar in a “Could be the best in the league at his position” way but Derrick had a mean streak that would do KAT some good.

Downs has nowhere near the handle or passing ability of Coleman. Coleman would rifle a pass off a between the legs dribble to a cutter like a guard. Downs don’t even have the guff to throw one hand bullet passes, or the quick tight handles like that to facilitate a one hand off the dribble BULLET pass. Or the physicality.

Both are lazy underachieving hyper skilled stretch bigs, but totally different games.

Coleman could rebound and bang with 90’s centers.
If Petrovic never passed away early, and Kenny Anderson and Coleman and Chris Morris stayed all on the same squad, they could have been a 90’s contender with the pacers and Knicks.

Not necessarily similar styles of play but that the player can be so much better.
