Denver made it to Playoffs 8th spot (tougher Western Conf) unlike Cavs (missed playoffs in weaker conference)

Melo shot better too marginally. Won more games in tougher conf. Melo's 43 games to LBJ's 35 games.

Nuggets did not get swept either. went down 1-4.

The team performance doesn’t really matter. Denver added Andre Miller and got Camby back from the year before so obviously that looks better.

Could you make a decent argument for Melo? Sure. But it was pretty much a toss up and Lebron was probably the better player. In that case of course it’s going to go to him.

Slightly better stats. Better record. Better record turnaround. Much tougher conference. LeBron had no argument for ROY of the year over Melo. It was quite controversial at the time.

Nah, as bad as Lebron was as a rookie, and he was pretty bad, Melo did not perform better. Not even close.
