I remember they took a lot of crap for that when it first happened. Instead of apologizing they just doubled down and kept rolling with it.

They paraded a bunch of hot girls at a San Antionio game not long afterwards to show there are hot girls there and Barkley was like 'they aren't from San Antonio, they just bused them in from Houston and Dallas'. :lol
