It's Day 1 of the NBA Finals and all the talk on Get Up so far has been about the next coach the Lakers are going to blame for failure and then fire. Amusing.

IF my King gives this signing his blessing, then it has mine as well.

If Lebron has any reservations, or god forbid he hasnt been consulted, then the Lakers need to hold off.

Not that Lebron WANTS any involvement in this. He doesnt. But the Lakers should insist on consulting him out of respect for what hes done there, hanging 2 banners in four years.

If anyone disagrees I would be more than happy to kick your asshole.

Surprised they aren't talking football. I swear that's all they do on that show.

Hurley wouldn't get the freedom to do what he does at UCONN. Coaching for LeBron is not an ideal circumstance. But if the price is right, I'm sure Dan wouldn't mind being the scapegoat and being thrown under the bus...

Bob Myers in that link explains the risk in selecting an NCAA coach. This is an obsession by some people in the sports world and it rarely works. The idea that college coaches "actually coach" and league coaches are glorified babysitters. It happens when you have people who don't get it in the front office. No NBA coach at least in the last 10 years was recently plucked from college ball.

It can work if the players are behind it, which it seems like they are in this case. Bron is going to be the actual HC anyway.

I don’t buy it.

Just Lakers and Los Angeles media being attention whores.

0.001% chance they hire Hurley.

Hurley is well-respected in the basketball world tho. Lakers have been consulting Coach K for advice so I definitely see Coach K being consulted on this offer. If coach K believes hurley would be great at the NBA level, I would definitely buy it. Coach K has coached nba players, so he knows what is necessary at that level. He also knows hurley personally and coached against him.

Brad Stevens was solid at nba level, and I believe Hurley is a better coach than Stevens was in college.

Yeah if it's happening it's probably been pre-cleared with LeBron.

I think of Rick Pitino and Leonard Hamilton who were top college coaches and it didn't translate in the NBA. Pitino lost the locker room, couldn't get along with veterans, he only connected with and cultivated young players. The only college coach that did I guess reasonably well in the NBA, was well, Billy Donovan.

That said, doesn't mean you couldn't find someone who could transition successfully.

Interesting take about Coach K.

Forgot about Brad Stevens as a successful example.
