View Full Version : Gafford and KP were both on the Wizards last year

I saw this pointed out in an ESPN article. They even played on the court together as a twin tower duo at times.

And in fact two key Nuggets from the 2023 championship - KCP and Jeff Green - had just come over from Washington before the season.

According to the article, the past seven title teams have included former Wizards, among them Bobby Portis in Milwaukee and GPII in Golden State.

Kinda crazy how the Wizards are just giving away championship contributors and building (nothing) around Kuzma and Jordan Poole.

Well done Washington :yaohappy:

There's a lot of talent in the league. Issue is that you need a superstar or multiple all-star level players to be a Playoff team. So Washington isn't going to win shit if they have just Kuzma & a couple ok players & scrubs like Jordan Poole who are sabotaging the team on both ends. Kuzma could be a starter on a Finals team too, we know he has the talent.

Yeah but only if it has Lebron.

Porzingus, Gafford and KCP all played well for us but when your team is paying $50 million to Beal your upside is limited.

Nobody here views Kuzma or Poole as long term building blocks.

Lmao. And tontoz will act like none of these players are worth shit because his team is completely inept at getting fair value in trades. lol.

Kuzma may start on the Mavericks but he wouldn't start in Boston.

Your team and city are completely miss run. It messes with your judgement. You’ve had a gang of solid role players and fringe all stars yet you can’t compete or make any significant runs?

These same players go over and play with who you wanna prop up, make the finals, and they still aren’t shit? Lmao.

Take an L.

i literally just posted that KCP/KP/Gafford all played well for us. Then you come in an hour later and say "tontoz will act like none of these players are worth sh!t".

But KCP wasn’t shit 3 weeks ago when you were jocking the white boy? Why? He was just the sum of whatever trade was made for him? Which was nothing. lol.

3 weeks ago? Yeah he had a bad series. So what? He helped them win a ring after playing well for us.

WTF is your point?

Tontoz literally argued that every single trade in the NBA is a fair swap because all the teams, owners, and GM’s are smart. Lmao.

Making stuff up again? Where did i say anything of the sort? I never said the KCP trade or the Porzingus trade were good for us.

Your literally down played Denver’s accusation of solid pieces because they didn’t have to give up much. All in an attempt to prop Jokic.

Now we see a pattern of your team giving up solid pieces for nothing. Lmao.

Porzingis could have opted out of his contract and become a free agent if he wanted to so we had no leverage. He opted in only to facilitate the trade to Boston. He wasn't going to stay after we traded Beal.

Beal had a toxic contract, including a no trade clause, so we couldnt get much for him.

We got a first round pick for Gafford which i was ok with. We were tanking at that point so keeping him made no sense.

I am well aware that our mgt has sucked for decades, we haven't had a 50 win season since the 70s, but we finally cleaned house last year and brought in new people with a history of success.

Are you drunk or just that stupid?

You just typed out the point I was making weeks ago. Not every trade recipient is getting equal value because there are a variety of different things going on in the background of each situation.

You say all this and yet Denver’s front office got no credit from you for snagging solid pieces on a bargain. Your lover boy Jokic got all the credit like he made them. Lmao.

I said at the time of the trade that KCP would be a great fit in Denver and that is exactly what happened. What is your problem? Did you parents drop you on your head as a baby?

I can vouch for this, I do remember him saying just that. And I dont recall him unfairly discrediting any of Jokic’s teammates. If he said KCP under performed against the Wolves, thats probably because KCP underperformed against the Wolves. So did most Denver players, including Jokic in games 1 and 2.

Norcaliblunt I think youre… reading racial stuff into this that isnt actually there. There are lots of black players who are popular and get celebrated among fans. White players are allowed to be popular too. Weirdo.

Is that what it is? LOL

Funny that i had a conversation with you before the playoffs started about how good Ant was against Denver in the playoffs last year. That's why i wasn't willing to pick Denver to beat Minny. I called the series a toss up in the series thread, which i probably wouldn't do if i was making posts based on race.

Hes been slinging accusations left and right of people overrating Jokic because hes white. As if he didnt have a historically dominant two year stretch culminating in an epic playoff run and championship last season. He still thinks white fans only praise him because he’s white. Hes been pushing that angle for a while now.

And the weird thing is I’m 99% certain he is white. But this is like some kind of edgy contrarian crusade for him.

The problem with Wizards is that any ballclub that would pay Beal that contract is so fundamentally stupid, that you're never going to make a competitive ballclub. ****ing ever.

Wizards need a clean house new owner who can get rid of the morons who looked at Beal and thought he was anything but fools gold, undersized, overrated chucker.

If Wizards had any sense, they'd have built around Porzingis, could have kept Gafford, KCP etc. Sure, probably wouldn't compete deep in the playoffs, but would be a playoff team every year and Zingis would be All Star.

The wizards did clean house last year. They got rid of everyone in MGT and brought in people from outside the organization. They are the ones who decided to blow it up and trade Beal.

Once Beal was gone porzingis wasn't going to stay and could have left for nothing if he wanted to. No reason to keep Gafford either since we are rebuilding.

I would expect them to trade Kuzma by the deadline next year.

Ok, I didn't know that, good for Wizards, no reason to be that bad.

People have been praising Kuzma, but I haven't watched him since Lakers. I'd say it speaks against him that he didn't want to play on Mavs, considering how poor-man's Kuzma in PJ is having a career season.

Then it's a tank-a-thon for Wizards now or?

Yes he is an all NBA caliber defender who finally showed some offense this season, and he resigned to a cheap contract prior to the season. Him and Bilal are the only guys we would consider "untradable".
