Payton/Kemp destroyed him in 1993 before getting beat by Barkley in 7 games...
Then the Sonics won 64 in 94' but were historically-upset by the 8 seeded Dikembe - the Sonics waited until 1996 to finally break through to the Finals by once again destroying Hakeem...
There was a lot of parity in the 90's West because the Suns, Rockets, Jazz, Spurs and Sonics were long-standing organic juggernauts with the best parity the NBA has ever seen - they took turns making the Finals and each Finals team was battle-tested and having their banner year with everything going for them - a freight train - that's what MJ beat in the Finals every year..
So MJ beat 6 long-standing organic juggernauts - the same kind of team that beats lebron every year (Spurs, Warriors, Nuggets, Mavs, Magic - all organic juggernauts - Lebron loses to superior chemistry because his own "down-hill" brand is bad at chemistry and relies on talent (more help).
