I think it’s safe to say that Dončić will always be in Dražen Petrović’s shadow! You gotta have stamina big bro!

This is like saying James Harden will always be in Dale Ellis's shadow.

It's pretty inexplicable why he's playing so heavy.

At his age, just playing competitive NBA basketball every other night, with practice days in between, should keep him in good shape. I cant imagine he's just eating so much that even NBA basketball won't slim him down. It really doesnt make sense.

Look how much slimmer he was just this summer in the FIBAs.

Why he doesnt stay in shape during the most important NBA playoff run of his life is pretty puzzling.

It is kinda funny. You would think he has to be drinking big time while doing late night take out every night or something. I don’t know how else that’s possible really.

His carelessness with the ball was embarrassing last night.

His weight gives him an advantage on the offensive end but clearly a liability on defense and overall stamina.

Why it helps on offense is that like Jokic, Doncic depends on backing people down. Even when he spins, he gets around the defender not because of his speed, but because the defender is bracing for another hit; defender's force comes forward, and it allows Doncic to go around easily.

Doncic is not helping- as an individual defender and team defender. In the 2H, he is not providing any help defense at all. By Q4, everyone can dribble around him as an individual defender.

He is also doing what I castigated Durant about for years on team offense; which is he takes plays off, and forces his teammates to go 4 on 5 while he rests at the half court line.

He either needs to spend more time in the gym or Kidd needs to manage his minutes.

Those passes work most of the time and he made some insane ones but it does become predictable when he dribbles into traffic. The Jays sniffed out quite a few of those plays. That one TO in the 4th wasn't on him though when he was forced to make that pass across half court to avoid a violation, but none of his teammates were open so he had to force that one.

Overall I don't think his conditioning is a problem really, he's played through injuries these entire POs and we've seen superstars disappear countless times under similar circumstances. Doncic just powers through it. Those who say he ran out of gas in the 2nd half need to understand that the Celtics started doubling him & forced him to become a passer, and Mavs got some great looks out of it but the role players need to make 3s or it's not going to be a close series.

also, 2nd half, Al Horford, holiday started looking over his back on defense as a weak side help.

Once Luka knew Brown got defense re-enforcement from weakside, he was done.

dont know why Celtics did not do that from first quarter itself.

Not really. Probably one of the best conditioned players on the floor in this series.

You're trying too hard, bro. It's too obvious.

Been saying this for the longest, and MF’s didn’t wanna hear it.

Apparently, Sasa Doncic was also a heavy drinker, and that may factor into why Divac didn’t like him, and didn’t want to draft his son, who was already known as a drinker amongst his teammates. Spencer Dinwiddie, Finney-Smith, etc have all made comments about “going out with Luka” etc

Probably a combination of things

- He doesn't run/sweat much in practise, he's an established star now so a coach is not going to wear him down.

- Pro athletes do have access to a shit ton of food, fully catered at the arena, hotels, on team flights, etc. etc. etc. If you want to eat ... I mean it's gonna be there for you.

Make him play defense and watch how it plays out.
