But they also made a counter offer. For Kobe. With assets that were not LeBron James on the 2007 Cavs.

It has to be the worst counter offer in the history of sports right?

Can you imagine a trade offer ever being made that was more laughable than who and whatever Cleveland offered the Lakers for prime Kobe Bryant while excluding Lebron?

if you work for the Cavaliers and you have to frame your response, what do you even say in an effort to not be laughed off the phone?

It's not really a serious counter offer. More like a polite rejection. It's like "geez we can't trade Bron for anyone but you're welcome if there's anyone else you'd like."

They were just waiting to play their big card, JJ Hickson in a few years. He was so great they turned down Amare a few years after this.:facepalm
