Why is everything labeled AI now?

AI doesn't even exist yet. It's just some marketing buzz word that is thrown around. I'm so annoyed. On my instagram, I just want to search for videos. And they have to keep reminding me every 5 seconds that I am using their AI. They'll send me private messages and thank me for using their AI search, though they couldn't get me any search results. I'm just trying to find some videos. Why do they have to message me and remind me I'm using AI? What AI?

Then I asked them why they think they're using AI and they said AI is facial recognition, tagging suggestions, search functions, etc.. What?? They were never called AI just a few years ago. So is my calculator also AI too, now? I don't even know what we're talking about anymore.

The sad thing is that if AI ever does become real and sentient, we would never even know because many of us thought AI was already here. There's no such thing. There's just technology that is the same that we have had for a long time, just getting a little more advanced as expected. Stop trying to force this down our throats. There's no more AI now than there was a few years ago and so on and so forth.

I CALLED out Instragram instead. Every time I try to find a video, I get a DM from their AI saying they couldn't find it. And I told them they don't have true AI. They said, I'm right but they consider themselves weak AI right now, but not in the classical way.

AI is just a boring, everyday word now. It's not what we all grew up thinking it was supposed to be.

I had a similar issue a few years ago, before Alpha Zero, around 2020, when the term "AI" was being thrown around nonstop for any regular computer related thing. The industry was using it as a marketing buzzword, and soon after NPC types started using it. I remember a particular YouTuber referring to the YouTube ranking algorithm as "the AI algorithm," and I just wanted to punch him in the eye. It was just amazing how easily the average person start using marketing buzzwords.

Imagine if a search function was implemented in ISH, and an NPC like Blade started calling it "The AI search function." That's how annoying it was.

This reminds me of 2008, after the Nintendo Wii was released. Nintendo started promoting using the new madeup term "casual gamer." I watched a video where a nerdy guy kept mentioning every 30 seconds that he was a casual gamer while playing Mario Kart Wii. The mood was basically, "I don't play video games, because video games are for kids, but since I'm a casual gamer...." And he just kept mentioning that he's a casual game over and over. Meanwhile, he's playing a f*cking Nintendo, which is pure video game, and the term, "Casual gamer" wasn't a thing a year earlier.

I don't remember the guys name, but it was this guy who burped on live tv.

Salty Meatballs post feels innocent to me. A certain tone. Like he grew grew up sheltered and has some sort of an innocence. The meatball avatar and the tone that I jus talked about makes his voice in my head sound like cartoon character with a voice like... the closests thing that comes to mind is the Christmas poo from South Park, which I haven't heard since like 2010. Something simlar, but different.

Good find. Anytime someone mentions AI to me, I tune out. Which is sad because real AI could never be celebrated if it were to ever come to fruition. They have all cheapened the meaning of AI.

The reasons I'm annoyed with the A.I. terms are much of the same reasons I'm annoyed with Lebron being exclusively promoted over the years. It feels forced and shoved down your throat. Coined terms like A.I. feel much like, Lebron had ''No help.'' Very misleading.
